New Year's Write the Room: Celebrate the New Year with this engaging printable write-the-room activity! Use this writing activity in your AVID classroom, ELA, or any content area. This activity features 8 unique labels you can display around your room, each representing a letter to spell out "New Year." These labels come with thought-provoking prompts that encourage students to reflect on their goals and aspirations for the upcoming year. Taboo is a fun French speaking and listening game where one student has to guess a word based on clues given in French by other students. The catch is that they cannot mention anything that is included in a list of taboo words.

Classic French Taboo Games Bundle - 3 Versions

Object of the game:

One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card.

Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

There are many ways you can use this set of cards: ➤ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions. ➤ Project the pdf file in class to work in group or with your whole class and avoid printing. ➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box. ➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out correct answers to false statements. ➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer. ➤ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. New Year's Scattergories Game in English

This is a really fun activity to play before and after the New Year with your students as they practice and build their vocabulary. Scattergories is the perfect classroom group game! You can play this game with students of literally any age or level.

Players attempt to create answers for each of the four categories on their game. This should be a fast moving game and there are only spaces for six words per category. The MAXIMUM they can write is six words so they have to choose them wisely. Students can be creative and flexible with their answers, but other players can challenge them!

12 games are included with different categories! You can either print out the game sheets or project them to save paper and ink. For younger students you can allow more time for them to think and write, while older students will love the challenge of the timer.

Play French scattergories when you need quick, no prep activities to play with your class while they practice their French New Year / Nouvel An vocabulary, oral, and written skills. These categories games includes many activities with a French New Year vocabulary theme which work well as ice-breakers.

Players attempt to create answers for each of the four categories on their game. This should be a fast moving game and there are only spaces for six words per category. The MAXIMUM they can write is six words so they have to choose them wisely. Students can be creative and flexible with their answers, but other players can challenge them!

12 games are included with 48 different categories! You can either print out the game sheets or project them to save paper and ink. For younger students you can allow more time for them to think and write, while older students will love the challenge of the timer.

New Year's vocabulary - 30 New Year's speaking prompt cards in English

Want your students to use their NEW YEAR'S vocabulary in fun and meaningful conversations? You can use this NO PREP activity year after year as a fun way to encourage your students to speak more to each other about New Year's traditions and holiday fun. This resource is suitable for any curriculum in which English is the language spoken, and will work best for students in 6th to 12th grade.

You can use these cards after learning specific vocabulary for the New Year during the months of December and January or as a fun interactive activity on any day when you want to just focus on speaking and reviewing vocabulary in a different way.

All cards are visually stimulating and feature a circle to punch out in the upper left corner so that you can print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and hook the cards together with a ring. Using these cards this way makes it easy to pull them out year after year to use as NO PREP speaking activities. A pdf with only one card per page is included for easy projection when you don't want to print.

The New Year - English Taboo Speaking Game

Playing TABOO is a great way to get ESL students to speak English and learn a lot of new vocabulary. This game is simple to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. In this NEW YEAR'S version of the game there are 30 playing cards. I've included 2 fun ways to play this fun vocabulary game and both are explained in the instructions.

This Taboo game includes the following:

How to play classic Taboo (beginner and advanced levels)

30 Taboo game cards to print, laminate, cut out and hook together with a ring

Black and white and grayscale copies are included

PDF for projecting one card at a time for a whole class activity

How to play 15 MINUTES MAX - an alternative version of the game

*In the upper left corner there's a spot for you to punch holes in the cards so that you can then attach them with a ring for no prep use every time. Be sure to laminate if at all possible.

Object of the game:

One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Beginner students should be allowed to use the TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.
