Writing an informational essay is an important writing project that gives students time to conduct research on a specific topic that is of interest to them. Once they are finished with their masterpiece, they can share it with their friends and family members. This product includes information to share with your students about what informational writing is, why we complete informational writing tasks, what steps to follow when writing the introduction/lead topic sentence, subtopics #1, #2, and #3, and the conclusion to form a strong essay on a topic, how to make our writing flow so that it makes sense to the reader, and tips to look for when rereading and editing. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to complete an informational essay. Using this guide, students will write and complete a simple or complex informational essay. Writing a realistic fiction story is a project that can be completed for students to use creativity or to connect with an English language arts lesson after reading about fiction or realistic fiction texts. This product includes information to share with your students about what fiction and nonfiction is, what is included in a realistic fiction story, examples of events that could happen in real life but did not happen, examples of settings that could be real, why we write a realistic fiction story, realistic fiction stories can entertain, inform, and persuade and what each of those mean, what can be included in a realistic fiction story, problems that could happen in a realistic fiction story, who a realistic fiction story can be written for, and how it can be published. Rules to follow when writing a realistic fiction are included in this product and an example of a weak and strong story opening is shared. This product includes a realistic fiction story example that includes a graphic organizer filled with story ideas, a chart that requires the title, characters, setting, and plot of the realistic fiction story, and a realistic fiction story example. At the end of the product, a template to help students come up with possible story ideas, write about the characters, setting, and plot of a story, and space to write a rough draft as well as a final draft are included.

Writing an animal research report can be a fun and interesting project for your students. This provides them with the opportunity to learn about an animal that interests them and share it with their peers! This packet includes information to share with your students about what an animal research report is, topic ideas, why an animal research report is written, what is shared in an animal research report, who the audience will be, how the completed animal research report will be published, rules to follow when writing an animal research report, where to locate information and the possible sources one could find when completing an animal research report, opening paragraph tips to hook the reader, tips that make a great animal research report, and an idea that shows the structure of an animal research report are included in this product
An example of three possible writing topics, a completed KWL chart, and a brainstorming chart that will serve as a guide when writing the rough draft of the animal research report are included in this product. An example of a rough draft on giant pandas, and an example of the sources that were used to write this animal research report are also provided to help support students and serve as a guide to help them when writing their own rough draft. Templates are included after the example along with a rough draft template and reminder checklist, so students remember to go back and check their work once it is completed.
Students can also complete the questions that are included with this product about their animal, such as what the name of you animal?, where does your animal eat?, how much does your animal weigh? Etc. Students will also be required to draw a picture of their animal. Using this template may be better to use with students who require the animal research report to be adapted.

This product focuses on the following areas: what nicotine is, where it is found, what tobacco can do, the legal age you need to be so buy and use cigarettes, cigars, pipes, vapes, and use chewing tobacco, the dangers of using tobacco, how nicotine is addictive and harms brain development, what smoking can cause, what a minor is, the meaning of a stimulant, tar, carbon monoxide, smokeless tobacco, and peer pressure. Students will learn about positive peer pressure and negative peer pressure, what they are, and examples of each, secondhand smoke, smokeless tobacco, why you should avoid tobacco, why some people smoke, short-term effects of tobacco - addiction, breathing problems, nicotine and tar stains, odor, cost, fires and burns, and long-term effects of tobacco - heart disease, lung disease, stomach ulcers, wrinkles, and gums/teeth, quitting tobacco use, secondhand smoke and the causes from it, reasons to resist smoking and the importance of following those reasons, resistance skills, review of vocabulary words, and being a health advocate and the importance of doing that.

In this product, students will learn about the Oregon Trail Westward Expansion. Vocabulary covered: pioneers, frontier, forty-niners, California Gold Rush, pioneer life, and The Oregon Trail along with a fill in the blank vocabulary review. At the end of the vocabulary review, a key is provided with the answers to all vocabulary words that are presented to help students fill in the missing blanks.
Students will learn about the westward expansion. What the west was in 1830, the causes of diseases and death along the Oregon Trail - scurvy, yellow fever, dysentery, cholera, typhoid, and wagon mishaps. how Indigenous Peoples that pioneers met on their journey west were helpful, facts about the covered wagons that were used to travel out west, what was packed in the covered wagons and why, and who the forty-niners were and what they were searching for.
The notes are adapted to meet your student's individual learning needs. Throughout the product, after each page of notes is reviewed, students will answer short answer comprehension questions. At the end of the product, students are provided with a review that includes multiple choice questions and short answer questions.

Mental Health Stigma Activities

This product focuses on the following areas: This product provides students with information regarding stigma. Students will answer questions regarding technology and social media and how they can affect our ability to show compassion to others, why people forget to take care of themselves and show compassion for themselves, how to stop negative thoughts from happening. Students will review the meaning for stigma, stereotype, prejudice, and discrimination. Students will also review what negative things they have heard about people with mental illness, along with positive things. Talking about how others are different and that's what makes them unique, and how others are stigmatized based on how they look, act, etc. Examples of possible stigmas are presented. The meaning of self-stigma and what examples of self-stigma are presented. Students will also review health conditions or social differences that were stigmatized throughout history, and ways to reduce stigma to eliminate negative feelings.
Throughout this product, students will answer comprehension questions and will also be presented with social scenarios that they may encounter where they are asked how they would feel or what they would do. An attitude survey regarding mental health that contains 10 questions is also included in this product. Students will compare their results when they are finished and will go over the correct answers.
This product can be used for 7th - 12th grade students depending on maturity and academic level.

Writing an opinion paragraph is an important writing project that gives students the time to write about a topic or feeling they personally have regarding a topic. This product sets the foundation for having students write an opinion paragraph. Once they are finished with their masterpiece, they can share it with their friends and family members. This packet includes information to share with your students about what an opinion paragraph is, why we complete opinion based writing tasks, what steps to follow when writing the opinion/topic sentence, supporting sentences, and conclusion, how to make our writing flow so that it makes sense to the reader, and tips to look for when rereading and editing. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to complete an opinion paragraph. Using this guide, students will write and complete a simple or complex opinion paragraph. An example of a completed graphic organizer, an example of an opinion paragraph, graphic organizer template, and two rough draft /final draft templates are included with this packet as well.

The vocabulary that is reviewed in this product includes: the Union, Confederate States, Civil War and what it means, secede, the 11 states that seceded and formed a new nation, Richmond, Washington, D.C., Fort Sumter, defeats, when the Civil War took place, troops, Facts about the men during the Civil War in the Union and the Confederate States, Emancipation Proclamation, abolitionists, united, Union blockade, bayonet, the results from the Civil War, reconstruction, black codes, and sharecroppers.
Short answer comprehension questions, fill in the blank comprehension questions with the use of a key, answering comprehension questions based on a map, and drawing a diagram based on data that was provided will be asked of students when completing the test that is included in this product on the Civil War.
