This FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE STATIONS activity is a fun and effective method for giving students practice at analyzing the most important types of figurative language. Students will develop the skills not only to identify types of figurative language but also to explain how figurative language contributes to the meaning of a literary text!

Students will learn about figurative language while gaining exposure to the most profound and thought-provoking quotations from the world's greatest writers! They'll be asked to analyze the figures of speech in over 120 inspiring quotations by a diverse range of important authors: Chinua Achebe, Louisa May Alcott, Maya Angelou, Jane Austen, James Baldwin, William Blake, Emily Dickinson, John Donne, Louise Erdrich, F. If you're searching for effective ways to explore sampling strategies in your AICE Environmental Management class, I highly recommend utilizing this engaging educational resource: a comprehensive booklet and an interactive crossword puzzle activity.

In the first phase, students will create a booklet that encompasses essential components for each sampling strategy, including sketches, description of the method, its advantages, and limitations.

In the second phase, the crossword puzzle serves as an engaging tool to assess students' understanding and retention of the sampling strategies they've explored.

This dynamic educational activity effectively addresses key concepts outlined in the syllabus for Unit #2, which revolves around Environmental Research and Data Collection.

French subjunctive, imperative and future tense paired speaking activity

No prep printable paired speaking activity to practice forming the present subjunctive and the futur simple. Students will see how useful the subjunctive is with one expression repeated over and over again: Vous voulez que _____? Many regular and irregular verbs are used in this activity, and the repetition is really helpful.

Example:

Élève 1: Prenez le bus. (Student reads the sentence in the imperative)

Take the bus.

Élève 2: Vous voulez que je _____? (prenne le bus)

You want me to take the bus?

Élève 1: Oui, je veux que vous _____. (preniez le bus)

You want us to take the bus?

Élève 2: D'accord, je _____ si vous voulez. (prendrai le bus)

Ok, I'll take the bus if you like.

I like to have my students work in pairs when doing this activity. On the first try it usually takes them a few extra seconds to think about the correct conjugation of the verb in question. For that reason, I have them repeat each set two or three times to encourage fluency.
