Functional money skills such as counting and identifying money to make purchases are critical to successful daily living. This Earth Day Money Unit reinforces these skills with progressively harder tasks beginning with matching dollar to dollar, progressing on to matching prices with dollars, then using the next dollar up method to make a purchase. The currency is in US dollars from $1 to $10. There are 3 levels of learning with 10 cards per level!
This is an excellent resource for a range of students, from those with IEP Math or Money Goals to transition-to-work students and elementary students learning money skills. Home Living Series focuses on selecting the best cleaning supplies (dish detergent, disinfectant spray, vacuum cleaner, laundry detergent, or glass cleaner) with the given object (sheets, carpet, plates, etc). This 30 question, self-grading activity is great for virtual learning or in-person learning. You will be able to share the presentation with your students for individual practice or as whole group. In this form students will use a real-world example of a monthly budget and saving goal. Students will use their learned knowledge of incomes and expenses to identify these items in the monthly budget. Students will practice identifying and calculating the amount of money needed for the desired expense and calculating how much money will need to be saved each month in order to attain the expense. Students will also examine the given budget to calculate the individual total income, expenses, money saved, and identify additional ways for individuals to save.
