This is one of my students' favorite projects and a great way to wrap up a unit on clothing. In this project, students will embark on a virtual shopping adventure to purchase clothing items for a family in need. With $600 American dollars collected for a family affected by a recent house fire, students will use their language skills to navigate an authentic Spanish online store to select clothing items for a family of four. My fashionistas get particularly into this one!

Students will:

• Translate their American dollars into Spanish Euros

• Browse through clothing categories

• Convert to European sizes

• Add items to their virtual shopping cart

• Stay within a given budget

• Take notes on new Spanish vocabulary encountered during their shopping experience.

• Complete a "Listo de Regalos" to document their purchases

Need to motivate your Spanish students?  Want to incorporate more REAL culture into your classes? Need them to work together?  This digital escape room is a FUN way to do both!  Students must watch and read the Google slides and also do some research of their own to help solve a crime. Students can complete this challenge in school or digitally from home! No-prep fun activity for ALL of your classes!

Some important objects have been stolen from the Soccer Museum at Camp Nou in Barcelona.  Help the police chase down the thieves as you travel around Spain!  To find the next clue, students must answer cultural questions about Spain.  From those answers, they must figure out codes that will open digital locks (in a google form).  Students get the next set of pictures and clues after each lock is opened! 

This Escape Room is suitable for all middle and high school students.  It focuses on famous places and interesting cultural details, not on grammar.  This resource comes in a Spanish version appropriate for students in Year 3 and up, and also an English version for Novice Spanish students or any student interested in Spanish culture!  It’s a great way to get students talking to each other at the beginning of the year, or a fun way to wrap up a school year too! El Camino de Santiago is one of the most interesting cultural features of Spain!  This interactive Google Slides Presentation designed to be presented in Spanish uses beautiful images and Pear Deck to engage Spanish students in a lesson about what the Camino is and why different people make the trek. Slides contain speaker notes to guide you in what to tell students about El Camino.  The presentation and interactive student questions are designed to be in Spanish, but it is easily editable if you would like to change it to English!

In addition to the presentation, there are 4 activity suggestions.  First is a 3-page article about El Camino de Santiago written in Spanish.  Next, I suggest showing a portion of the movie “The Way” with Martin Sheen.  Unfortunately, this movie is only in English, which is why I only show a portion of it.  But the scenery and the message of the movie are so worth it!!  After students see a portion of the movie, there are group discussion questions about the movie included.  I linked in my Extempore activity under the written questions- feel free to email me if you would like to know more about that website!  Last, I have students write the next scene of the movie!  They must demonstrate the spirit of El Camino and some elements of what they’ve learned about El Camino in their writing.

This is a great cultural activity for more advanced Spanish students, and it goes perfectly with the AP Unit 5: Factors that Influence our Quality of Life!

Who can use this product:

• It’s designed for students in Years 4 and 5 and/or AP (but can be modified if you would like)

How can I use this product?

• The entire activity is digital and easy to assign/present in Google Classroom (or other learning management platform)
• This activity can also be presented to an in-person class, or a hybrid class
• The presentation and reading can be used alone
• If you want to show the movie The Way, the discussion questions and partner writing assignment go nicely with that!

What’s included in this product?

• A 15-slide Google Slides presentation with interactive Peardeck questions.  (Don’t use Peardeck?  No problem- just ask the question to the class and have some students answer before moving to the next slide!)
• Speaker notes with all slides
• A Google Doc article about El Camino de Santiago (in Spanish)
• A Google Doc with class/small group discussion questions about the movie The Way (these are meant to help them think about the movie in preparation for their writing assignment)
• A google doc writing assignment with rubric (can be used for small groups, partners or individual students)

Bring student travel to life virtually with this Google Slides presentation about Youth Hostels in the Spanish-speaking world! Show Spanish students a different way to travel by talking about what youth hostels are like! The Google Slides feature beautiful pictures as you provide basic information in Spanish about them. Let students watch a brief video taken at a youth hostel in Spain. Finally, have them read an article of advice for students who want to stay in a youth hostel. Comprehension questions follow!

All parts of this product can be edited to be sure everything is just right for your students!

It's the end of a unit or the end of the school year.... what would be FUN and motivating to students?  Learning slang!  This Youtube video and accompanying Google Doc and Edpuzzle viewing guides will help students learn 20 slang words.  This video teaches slang from SPAIN, but check out my other products for slang from other countries!

Students can view the video and write down answers in open-ended form, or they can watch the video in an EdPuzzle and answer the multiple choice questions.  (Auto-graded, by the way!)  The questions in this activity are written in Spanish, but the language level is basic and should be accessible to students from Novice High and up.  The video itself presents Spanish slang terms with explanations in English.

Who can use this product?

• Any student interested in learning slang from Spain!

How can I use this product?

• Assign this activity in class or for homework
• Get students excited to learn "real" Spanish! 
• Have students complete the viewing guide where they fill in answers to have a document they can save for reference
• Have students complete the Edpuzzle if you need them to have instant feedback and/or a quick grade.  (Edpuzzles make it easier for students to answer as the question pops up right after the answer was given!  It's a good differentiation for students.)
• Combine this with other activities to create a mini unit!

Get a quick start on AP Spanish® Unit 2: Identity! The first day of a new AP Spanis®h unit is rough! It requires essential questions, vocabulary, and a way to get students interested in the new theme.  This resource contains everything you need to start Unit 2, La influencia de la lengua en la cultura y la identidad.  There are 5 different resources included!  Now you can finish correcting the assessments from Unit 1 because you’re all set to start this unit!

The “Hook Activity” is meant to spark interest by provoking students to make connections to their own lives or to ask questions.  This hook activity is in the form of personalized questions, and asks students to give their opinions on topics that will interest them.  Students are asked to turn and talk about their answers with a partner after they write.   As an added benefit, students can activate prior knowledge as they start to see the relevance of this topic to their own lives!

The Essential Questions (3) and the Vocabulary List (1 ¼ pages) with a pre-made Quizlet are already done for you too!  And there is even a vocab activity that you can use as a warm-up or homework assignment!
