¡Vamos de Compras! Independent Spanish Clothes Clothing/La Ropa Shopping Project

This is one of my students' favorite projects and a great way to wrap up a unit on clothing. In this project, students will embark on a virtual shopping adventure to purchase clothing items for a family in need. With $600 American dollars collected for a family affected by a recent house fire, students will use their language skills to navigate an authentic Spanish online store to select clothing items for a family of four. My fashionistas get particularly into this one!

Students will:

  • Translate their American dollars into Spanish Euros

  • Browse through clothing categories

  • Convert to European sizes

  • Add items to their virtual shopping cart

  • Stay within a given budget

  • Take notes on new Spanish vocabulary encountered during their shopping experience.

  • Complete a "Listo de Regalos" to document their purchases

  • Prepare a brief oral presentation in Spanish to share with the class.

This project not only reinforces essential language skills such as vocabulary acquisition and currency conversion but also promotes empathy, cultural awareness, and community engagement. Spanish Slang Learn 20 Words with Video and Edpuzzle

It's the end of a unit or the end of the school year.... what would be FUN and motivating to students?  Learning slang!  This Youtube video and accompanying Google Doc and Edpuzzle viewing guides will help students learn 20 slang words.  This video teaches slang from SPAIN, but check out my other products for slang from other countries!

Students can view the video and write down answers in open-ended form, or they can watch the video in an EdPuzzle and answer the multiple choice questions.  (Auto-graded, by the way!)  The questions in this activity are written in Spanish, but the language level is basic and should be accessible to students from Novice High and up.  The video itself presents Spanish slang terms with explanations in English.

  • Get students excited to learn "real" Spanish!

The first day of a new AP Spanis®h unit is rough! It requires essential questions, vocabulary, and a way to get students interested in the new theme.  This resource contains everything you need to start Unit 2, La influencia de la lengua en la cultura y la identidad.  There are 5 different resources included!  Now you can finish correcting the assessments from Unit 1 because you’re all set to start this unit!

The “Hook Activity” is meant to spark interest by provoking students to make connections to their own lives or to ask questions.  This hook activity is in the form of personalized questions, and asks students to give their opinions on topics that will interest them.  Students are asked to turn and talk about their answers with a partner after they write.   As an added benefit, students can activate prior knowledge as they start to see the relevance of this topic to their own lives!

Spanish Slang Video and Viewing Guide

It's the end of a unit or the end of the school year.... what would be FUN and motivating to students? Learning slang! Digital or printable, this Youtube video and accompanying Google Doc and Edpuzzle viewing guides will help students sound more natural with their speech. This video teaches slang from SPAIN, but check out my other products for slang from other countries!

Students can view the video and write down answers in open-ended form, or they can watch the video in an EdPuzzle and answer the multiple choice questions. (Auto-graded, by the way!) The questions in this activity are written in Spanish, but the language level is basic and should be accessible to students from Novice High and up.
