French Halloween Activity Pack-French Phonics Centres-Halloween GAMES

By La trousse de Madame

French Halloween Activity Pack:

Fun and engaging activity sheets to reinforce and explore French Phonics SOUNDS in the Kindergarten to Grade 3 French Immersion classroom. Students will love the intriguing graphics and have fun finding the target sounds, searching for Halloween vocabulary, and building encoding and decoding skills with each activity. This activity aligns with the Science of Reading and blends well with all French programs across Canada and around the globe where French is being taught. Perfectly suits Son-au-graphe, Bien Lire, Aimer Lire, CBE French program, and Pratique Phonémique (all resources currently being used in Canadian French Immersion schools). Explore beginning phonics concepts with your students as they engage in fun and exciting Halloween themed activities.

How to prepare this resource:

Prep for this activity DOES INCLUDE SOME TIME ON YOUR PART! Make a copy of each page, insert into clear pocket, dry erase pocket, or use as individual worksheets and watch as the giggles get started. My students LOVE these activities. I cannot make them fast enough.

Detailed instructions for each activity are set out at the top of each activity and could not be easier.

There is a little cutting and laminating involved with some activities but many use clear folders to make your job easier!

Perfect for a sub binder, emergency plans, or as a back up activity when you happen to have a few minutes to spare. A great set to have on hand as an extra centre activity at Halloween time. Your K-3 Immersion students will love them!

When to use this resource in the classroom:

These activity sheets are Halloween themed and can be used for the entire month of October and even into the week following Halloween. Students love using them and they can be helpful for follow-up assessment. Just in time for progress reporting period!

I hope your students enjoy learning their vowel sounds and exploring phonemic awareness with a Halloween Theme!

Appropriate audience:

I use these activities in my French Immersion classroom with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students. I feel confident that they could be used for any grade from Kindergarten to Grade three.

I would love to know how you are using this product in your classroom. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have anything to say about this resource. I love helping teachers as much as I can. A product review also is a great way of letting me know, and leaving a review earns you extra credit for more amazing TeachShare products!

Here's what a few teachers are saying about resources in my store:

Jennifer H. stated:
***** Extremely satisfied

My board has moved toward a strong literacy/phonics focus in Gr. 1/2. This resource was great because it fit in so perfectly with what students had experienced in English and what I needed to teacher. Loved it.

Julie G. said:

***** Extremely satisfied

This has been a fun way for students to review their letters. I love that each page gives students an opportunity to write the letter, find the letter and find the sounds. Merci!

What grade level:

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from Kindergarten to Grade Three will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.

Fun Math Practice: Eyeball Counting 1-20 | Recognizing Reading Numbers in Words

By Inspired By MlG

Here are some ways in which students will benefit from this fun math practice activity:

Foundational Math Skills:

  • Number Sense: Eyeball counting helps students develop a strong sense of numbers and quantities, which is crucial for understanding mathematical concepts.
  • Counting Fluency: Practicing counting within the range of 1-20 improves students' counting fluency and accuracy, making them more confident and efficient in their mathematical tasks.
  • Subitizing: Eyeball counting can also help students develop subitizing skills, which is the ability to instantly recognize small quantities of objects without counting them individually. This is a valuable mental math strategy that can be used in various mathematical operations.

Literacy Skills:

  • Word Recognition: Recognizing numbers written in words enhances students' vocabulary and reading skills, as they learn to associate written words with numerical concepts.
  • Reading Comprehension: Understanding number words improves students' reading comprehension, especially in contexts involving mathematical information or data.

Cognitive Development:

  • Attention and Focus: Eyeball counting and number recognition exercises require students to pay attention, focus on details, and concentrate, which can improve their overall cognitive development.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: These activities can help students develop problem-solving skills, as they learn to analyze and interpret visual information and apply their knowledge to count and recognize numbers.
  • Critical Thinking: By engaging in these activities, students can learn to think critically and make logical deductions, which are essential skills for success in mathematics and other subjects.

Additional Benefits:

  • Fun and Engaging: Eyeball counting and number recognition activities can be made fun and engaging through games, puzzles, and interactive exercises, making learning more enjoyable for students.
  • Preparation for Higher Math: Developing a strong foundation in counting and number recognition is essential for students' future success in learning more complex mathematical concepts and operations.
  • Real-Life Applications: These skills have practical applications in everyday life, such as counting objects, understanding measurements, and interpreting numerical data.

Overall, practicing eyeball counting 1-20 and recognizing reading numbers in words provides students with a solid foundation in mathematics and literacy, while also developing important cognitive skills that will benefit them throughout their academic and personal lives.
