St. Patrick's Day Letter Sound Fluency Strips

Use this low prep St. Patrick's Day activity to practice letter sound fluency in preschool, kindergarten or first grade. The cute thematic design will keep students engaged and interested while having fun and developing critical early literacy skills. Simply print, cut and laminate the 8 individual strips of letters and they are ready for use. Students point to each letter as they say the sound. A single strip can be repeated several times to build fluency. These can also be used to identify lower case letter names.

Suggested Uses:

♥ Pass out strips to students as a quick warm up before small group literacy instruction.

♥ Use the strips as a reading center activity. Students can work in pairs to check each other and trade strips for a second round. The seasonal strips are great to use on St. Patrick's Day and throughout the month of March.

These St. Patrick's Day alphabet clip cards are the perfect way for preschoolers and kindergartners to practice letter recognition and matching capital and lowercase letters. Students can also practice building fine motor skills by using clips to mark each letter.

What is Included:

There are 4 clip cards for each letter of the alphabet. Activities include matching the capital letter to a matching capital letter, matching a lowercase letter to the matching lowercase letter and matching capital letters with the correct lowercase letters.

How to Use:

Students will take one clip card, look at the letter on the shamrock card and then clip the letter that matches. The teach may choose to use small manipulatives, like mini erasers, bingo chips or counters to mark each correct response. This resource is a page for designing a leprechaun trap. Both the primary and upper elementary versions include an area to draw the trap, a space to list the materials they will need, and a portion to write about why this is the perfect leprechaun trap to finally catch the mischievous leprechaun! Looking for a fun way to incorporate themed vocabulary into your classroom or homeschool? Use these weekly thematic word work units to introduce new words and practice spelling, handwriting, sentence building, and drawing.

Each week features a different themed picture or pictures, six vocabulary words to learn, and five days of quick, fun activities using those words. Daily activities are numbered to keep the student on track and are quick enough to be used as morning work or in a literacy center. All units include five weeks of vocabulary work so that in months with four weeks you can choose the themes that best fit your classroom. Also included: black and white versions of all five weeks for easier printing.

This unit is great for a classroom but was developed with homeschoolers in mind. The daily format mimics several homeschool vocabulary programs to make it easy to use alongside older siblings.
