These gameboards are "closed" gameboards. You can make these work in your favor by setting up the guidelines ahead of time. Or, you can state that the games are over after a player has made 5 rounds, or however you choose.

How to use:

- Read aloud the letter name.

- Trace the letter.

Instructions:

1. Choose 2 or 3 different letters and corresponding picture sheets.

2. Cut out all the pictures from the sheets.

3. Mix up all the pictures and place them in a pile.

4. Ask the students to sort the pictures into groups based on their beginning sounds.

5. For an added challenge, use 3 different letters instead of 2, or mix in some pictures that do not match any of the chosen letters for the students to identify.

6. Encourage students to work together and discuss their reasoning for sorting the pictures as they do.

7. Celebrate their success and progress throughout the activity.

Spring short vowel mini set - Included is one of each of the activities featuring short a.

Students will write and wipe or use manipulative letters. Students will build letters using flower petals, tap out sounds with Mr. Frog, and slowly talk with Mr. Turtle. Turtle and Frog are ready to be printed and attached to popsicle sticks for hopping / walking along each word. Use them again and again in your small groups or centers.

Turtle Talk

Materials - Picture cards, turtle

Directions - 

We will be talking very slowly like a turtle!  We call this turtle talk.  Look at the picture.  What is it?  Say the word slowly.  Tap out every sound you hear.  Write the letters on the card.  Use your turtle to walk and turtle talk the word you made!   

Flower Building

Use the letters on each flower to build words. Each set has 3 pages to provide appropriate support for your students. You will have one blank page, one with the medial sound written, and one with word families.

Get ready for Kindergarten with this Letter Learning Alphabet Activity.

Here is how it works:

•Included in this product are popsicle puzzles for all the letters of the alphabet.

•Print, Cut out (Recommend Laminating before cutting)

These NO PREP, easy to read decoding cards are ideal for the K-2 classroom in French immersion, Core French, or Modern Language setting. Aligns perfectly with the Science of Reading and can supplement any reading program.

What to do:

I make 4 copies of a few cards for centre activities, a few sets for a clear folder binder for ‘shoulder to shoulder, knee to knee partner reading, and a set of cards for a quick quiet reading session if we are getting too silly in class.

Science of Reading:

These cards aligned with sounds being taught in any Science of Reading aligned curriculum. They are set up for student success based on the research for increasing reading fluency and building student confidence in the classroom!

Who can use this resource:

Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple texts to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.

Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in reading and confidence in reading strategies.

Texts are designed to build a number of common French sounds and get more challenging as they go on.

Most of the word families have 5 corresponding pictures, except for a few word families. The caterpillar heads contain the word family on the top , while the bodies contain the pictures (and words) of the different word families.

How do learners complete this Spring Caterpillar Rhyming activity?

• Present learners with the caterpillar heads and the circle bodies for the word families you'd like them to work on.
• Learners will sound out the word and identify the word that rhymes with it and match the pieces together to build the caterpillar.
• Learners will match the pictures in the caterpillar parts to the heads of the caterpillar with the correct word family. They will continue doing this until they finish building the caterpillar word family.
