More than $20 Middle School World Languages Assessment (by price, low to high)

Common French expressions are a great way to spice up conversations, increase vocabulary, and sound more French. The grammar in these expressions is varied, so this resource is fine for all levels (even beginners). Many of these expressions are informal or familiar. However, none of the expressions are inappropriate or vulgar. This bundle will save you 20%.

A grammar quiz and a reading comprehension quiz are included in this bundle, as well as a comprehensive listening and reading activity.

The idea is to not worry about WHY things are said this way in French, but instead to encourage our students to accept it and memorize these short expressions, interjections, and sentence starters. My students have a lot of fun using these, and I love hearing them having fun with French!

In addition to the set of cards, you get video and audio versions. All of the words and expressions are spoken slowly, and students are given time to repeat them aloud. English translations are included for all expressions on the video recordings. Students will notice that the English versions are almost never direct translations, which is interesting to note! Audio recordings are included so you can share them to have your students practice almost anywhere (even on the way to school)!

Included:

1. 2 separate video recordings with all expressions written in French and English
2. 2 separate audio recordings for listening comprehension and pronunciation practice
3. 2 sets of practice cards to print, cut out, and use over and over again (total 155 cards)

How to use the practice cards:

Have students print and cut out the cards, and hook them together with a ring. Expressions are written in French at the top, and in English at the bottom. As they practice and master these expressions by using the video and audio recordings, they can test themselves frequently with the stack of cards. When they feel confident with a word or expression, they can take a pair of scissors and CUT OFF THE ENGLISH translation on the dotted line. They'll eventually have a handy set of French only cards to pull out any time they'd like to review. Have a look at the video preview.

➯ Video presentation of the dictée. Watch me and listen as I read each sentence two times slowly enough to understand and write at the same time. Many non-natives find it makes the listening comprehension part of dictation exercises more manageable to see the speaker's mouth. Once I've finished reading the dictation, I will present each written sentence in French along with the English translation. Once we've gone through all of the sentences and students have checked their work, I will present the complete text in paragraph form on the screen. At that time, we can slowly read through the complete text together so they can see how the separate sentences actually form a short story. ➯ Audio presentation of the dictée. Listen as I read each sentence two times slowly enough to understand and write at the same time. This version of the exercise will be more challenging as students will not see the speaker's mouth.

French Verb Conjugation Board Games - PRESENT TENSE GROWING BUNDLE - No Prep Printables

Board games are a fun way to practice conjugating regular and irregular verbs in the present tense. This growing bundle will save you 50%. Once you own the bundle, all future worksheets that I add will be yours at no additional cost (though the price of the bundle will increase accordingly).

Each board game is one page and requires absolutely no prep. You will need to provide dice and game pieces for each player. Games include 37 numbered boxes. The first player to reach box 37 wins. There are a few tricks along the way, so getting to the end isn’t always so easy! Some boxes require students to conjugate the verb using the provided subject pronoun, and others require them to name the subject pronoun that matches the verb conjugation.

Verb Race is a fun and very exciting way to practice verb conjugations. Your students are going to love these sets of 75 French verbs to use in the fast moving verb race game. Each set includes 75 verbs to work with in the indicated tense.

Classic verb race involves dividing the class into teams and one person from each team goes up to the board to conjugate faster than everyone else. I've included full instructions (see preview), tips and rules with this resource. Verb Race has always been a huge favorite in my classroom.

In classic verb race it is usually the teacher who moderates the game, but in the instructions I'll explain in detail how you can play a student led game so that even your weakest students can participate and learn a ton.

With each game I’m including a slideshow version without answers and student response sheets if you want to project the game and play as a class or in small groups without moving out of desks and up to the board.

I recommend printing out the cards, laminating them if possible, and cutting them out for years of no prep use and verb conjugation review.

Looking for ways to engage your students when teaching the French futur simple tense? Just print and go with this set of French board games, crossword puzzles, sudoku puzzles, and worksheet activities to conjugate all irregular and some regular verb stems in the futur simple. Board Games: Some boxes require students to conjugate the verb using the provided subject pronoun, and others require them to name the subject pronoun that matches the verb conjugation. Lots of repetition will really help them to memorize French verbs in the futur simple. There are a few fun tricks along the way, so getting to the end isn’t always so easy.

In groups of two to four, players take turns rolling a die to move their pieces forward. Spaces are numbered to keep track of which way they’re moving. There are some spaces with special instructions:

• Départ - Start
• Avance de 5 cases - Move forward 5 spaces
• Recule de 5 cases - Move backward 5 spaces
• Rejoue - Play again
• Tu perds ton tour - Lose a turn
• Fin - End

For an extra challenge and to extend playing time, you can tell your students that they have to land directly on the last square and answer it correctly to win. 

Worksheets: One page worksheets - Half of each page requires students to fill in subject pronouns, and the other half requires them to conjugate the verb. This is a great way to prep for the board game!

Crosswords: One more excellent way to review conjugating regular and irregular verbs in the futur simple.

Sudoku puzzles: Your students will review verb stems and endings while exercising their brains in a different way with a sudoku puzzle!

Instructions

One grid to print out and make one copy for each student in your class. There are sixteen squares on the grid. Each square contains one question and a space to write a classmate’s name.

Have your students move around the room asking classmates the questions that are written in the squares on the grid that you provide. If a classmate responds with OUI he or she writes his name on the line provided. Complete sentences are encouraged even when the answer is NON. Activity continues until all boxes are filled. Once all of the boxes have been signed your students can turn in their papers.

This is a fun, interactive way to review vocabulary and to practice oral production and listening comprehension. Your students will enjoy learning fun facts about their classmates, and you will certainly like hearing them speak French!
