Mystery picture

♣ Print out 1 mystery picture per student.

♣ Students cut up the answer tiles and then place them on the correct question tiles to match the words with the definitions.

♣ They can glue the question tiles onto the answer tiles and color the picture too.

Sudoku

♣ Print out 1 sudoku per student.

♣ Students cut off the right side of the sheet along the dotted line and cut out the missing sudoku pictures. They glue them into the sudoku grid so that all 6 words appear in each row, column and 2x3 frame.

♣ Each word must appear in each row, column and 2x3 frame only once.

♣ Check with the whole class - students have to name in English all pictures in the given row, column or 2x3 frame.

La Saint Patrick - French Dots and Boxes Activity

An easy and fun no-prep game that will elicit a lot of exposure to 24 different St. Patrick's Day French themed words. This is a one-page dots & boxes game including directions. This game could be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or played on an iPad with annotation/whiteboard tools.

Objective: Complete more boxes than your opponent. Each player draws lines using a different color. On your turn, make a horizontal or vertical line from one dot to another. Say the words on either side of the line you drew. If you complete a box on your turn, draw an X in the box using your color. Once all of the boxes have been completed, count to see who got the most.

Kyle, the main character is trying to discover his heritage and learns a few things about being Irish as he learns. Vocabulary that is learned and reviewed includes: heritage, immigrants, and heritage. Students will learn facts about Ireland and being Irish as they watch the movie.

Students will also learn about problem solving skills, working hard, following rules, working together, and being a good friend, citizen, and family member. The comprehension questions in this product relate with the movie as well as students own experiences. Students can also write sentences uses unknown vocabulary words in sentences. Students can answer these comprehension questions as they watch the movie or after they have finished the movie. This resource includes 10 St. Patrick's Day themed writing prompts that would be best suited toward upper elementary or earlier middle schoolers.
