This colorful, cheerful binder organizes your coupons and makes it easier for you to find just the right coupon you are looking for while out shopping.Teach your students or children in your household the value of saving money by saving coupons. Create your own coupon binder by using baseball card holders that you can find at many dollar stores or office supply stores. You can either use a two inch or three inch binder to set it up and place all your dividers in. There are two coupon sorting sheets available. Rather than flipping through the pages in your binder to insert coupons which can take a lot of time, you can use the coupon sorting mats. Once your coupons are all sorted then you can place them in your binder. Children of all ages can help with sorting the coupons. Many kids can also help out with gathering coupons and cutting them out. This lesson helps students personify and project their anger onto their own monster that they create with the therapeutic aim to reflect and gain insight. Supporting children to personify anger can help make it easier to manage.

This mini-lesson has been successful at supporting students who experience anger management issues. This intervention asks students to create a representation of anger and give it a name. By externalizing anger, it becomes something that they can deal with and manage. It is no longer an abstract idea that they have no control over. It becomes manageable.

This intervention helps to create a sense of personal awareness and insight into their own anger. The Angry Monster can also act as an outlet so that the Angry Monster can hold onto the anger, helping to compartmentalize the stress and anger so that the student doesn’t have to.

This therapeutic intervention requires the therapist to be very curious and unconditionally accepting of the Anger Monster that the student creates and imagines.

Remember the vital role of empathy and at the end of the intervention thank the student for sharing what their anger looks like as a monster to support integration.

Definition:
A Mini Socratic Seminar is a scholarly discussion of an essential question in which student opinions are shared and refined through dialogue with other students in small groups. In this mini format, the teacher or seminar leader facilitates the discussion for the small groups.

Seminar Directions:

• Students choose a group based on the category that best fits them.
• The teacher poses the essential question.
• Students respond to the question through note-taking.
• The teacher chooses a Socratic Seminar leader for each group.
• The leader facilitates the seminar discussion by guiding group members to a deeper and more clarified consideration of the ideas, respect for varying points of view, and adherence to and respect for the seminar process.
• Students may pose new questions when the discussion is exhausted. New questions posed must relate to students’ ideas and contributions in response to the initial essential question.
• Or leaders use the questions in the Google Slides to guide groups.
• Students write a summary by answering the EQ in their notes after the discussion.
