• Pre-Reading Warm Up’s: These warm ups prepare the student with the words they will encounter in the mini book. These will help the student make connections and build prior knowledge. You will find a list and chart of the following words in the reader:

  • Sight Words
  • Phonics
  • Bible Vocabulary

  • Black-and-white version for coloring.

Many reading programs such as the Science of Reading, Logic of English and All About Reading have found that for reading comprehension to improve, a student’s ability to decode must increase. A powerful tool to improve student decoding skills is through the use of decodable texts.

With a Bible decodable text, you will also be increasing the student’s knowledge of the Bible and help grow their faith in Jesus!

For most decodable readers the writer can ‘make up’ a story by choosing from only these types of words. However, to accurately tell the Bible story, I had to use a few sight words and Bible vocabulary.

These are not meant to be in-depth Bible lessons. These are meant to support your reading program, integrating the Bible into early learning!
