However, because of their unique needs, I was struggling to find texts at their level that featured these **complex sounds** - in excess - for them to practice, see in real life and to work with them in guided readings or 1:1. I was finding myself scouring my shelves for books that had ample opportunities for them to see and practice a certain sound and wasn't having success; so I decided to create texts that hone in on specific sound formations they're struggling with, have never properly learned, or have forgotten. They are texts which feature vocabulary at the grade 5-6 instructional level.\n\nI was also tired of running back and forth from my literacy lab to find reading records and wanted to have them printable from my classroom. If you're in a similar boat, this is the product for you!\n\n**This collection features 44 pages of resources:**\n\n\\- 12 texts (student version to be printed and used in small groups or 1:1)\n\n\\- 12 texts (teachable version with sounds highlighted, or for differentiated instruction)\n\n\\- 12 \"fiches\" to use as a **fiche d'observation**/**fiche d'évaluation en littératie** in a 1:1 setting featuring columns you're used to seeing (Erreurs, autocorrections, S | St | V strategies, Fluidité, Date, Nom de l'évaluateur et nom de l'élève). I've also provided you with a handy accuracy calculator so you don't need to pull out your calculator for each individual text. Circle the number of errors and you'll be given their accuracy percentage. Each text features comprehension questions.\n\n**The sounds and textual features you'll see featured in these series of texts include:**\n\n* -ais, -ait, -aient, -ent, -ment, -ant, -ante (suffixes)\n* -i, -ui, -ier, -ierre, -air, -ien, -ain, -oi, -ieu, -in, -ie (bases et suffixes)\n* -i, -ie, ié -is, -it, -eille, -ay, -oi , -io (bases et suffixes)\n* -ai, -ou, -eu, -oi, -io, -ui, -ue, -eau, -ie (bases et suffixes)\n* les sons muets: -t, -s, -d, -ent, h, -c (suffixes - sauf le \"h\")\n* apostrophes et traits d’union\n* -e muet et non-muet (suffixes)\n* Adjectifs masculins, féminins et pluriels (suffixes)\n\nFor goodness sakes, don't forget to have fun!\n\nMme. What makes this decodable reader so unique from all the other Bible mini books?

Pre-Reading Warm Up’s: These warm ups prepare the student with the words they will encounter in the mini book. These will help the student make connections and build prior knowledge. You will find a list and chart of the following words in the reader:
A decodable reader mini-book
A single-page passage with a picture(s).
Many reading programs such as the Science of Reading, Logic of English and All About Reading have found that for reading comprehension to improve, a student’s ability to decode must increase. A powerful tool to improve student decoding skills is through the use of decodable texts.
With a Bible decodable text, you will also be increasing the student’s knowledge of the Bible and help grow their faith in Jesus!
Thank you and HAPPY TEACHING!!
----------------------------------------------------------
Make sure to note:
This is for ONE Bible Story Decodable reader resource. Others are /will be listed separately in my store.
For most decodable readers the writer can ‘make up’ a story by choosing from only these types of words. However, to accurately tell the Bible story, I had to use a few sight words and Bible vocabulary.
These are not meant to be in-depth Bible lessons. These are meant to support your reading program, integrating the Bible into early learning!

FICHES DE LECTURE/READING ASSESSMENT/BENCHMARK | COMPLEX SOUND/SONS (FRENCH)
By French Made Fun!
My "big" kids in grades 5 and 6 have been struggling with their French sounds - both basic and complex - and we're backtracking! However, because of their unique needs, I was struggling to find texts at their level that featured these complex sounds - in excess - for them to practice, see in real life and to work with them in guided readings or 1:1. I was finding myself scouring my shelves for books that had ample opportunities for them to see and practice a certain sound and wasn't having success; so I decided to create texts that hone in on specific sound formations they're struggling with, have never properly learned, or have forgotten. They are texts which feature vocabulary at the grade 5-6 instructional level.
I was also tired of running back and forth from my literacy lab to find reading records and wanted to have them printable from my classroom. If you're in a similar boat, this is the product for you!
This collection features 44 pages of resources:
- 12 texts (student version to be printed and used in small groups or 1:1)
- 12 texts (teachable version with sounds highlighted, or for differentiated instruction)
- 12 "fiches" to use as a fiche d'observation/fiche d'évaluation en littératie in a 1:1 setting featuring columns you're used to seeing (Erreurs, autocorrections, S | St | V strategies, Fluidité, Date, Nom de l'évaluateur et nom de l'élève). I've also provided you with a handy accuracy calculator so you don't need to pull out your calculator for each individual text. Circle the number of errors and you'll be given their accuracy percentage. Each text features comprehension questions.
The sounds and textual features you'll see featured in these series of texts include:
For goodness sakes, don't forget to have fun!

Mykhala & Daniela: A Ukrainian Story - Realistic Fiction
By Mark Holmes
This story is also available as part of an eight story ebook, "Young Voices: Eight Short Stories of Courage & Resilience."
Amid the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, young girls Mykhala and Daniela, refugees, bond over a shared vision of a peaceful Donbas. Inspired by Mykhala's love for birds and Daniela's artistry, they create a bird sanctuary, drawing in various species, notably the Hoopoe, a symbol of peace. Their sanctuary becomes a beacon of hope amidst war, earning local admiration and global recognition. Despite success, they remain committed to their homeland, furthering their education to serve their community. Their enduring friendship and their shared dream leaves a lasting legacy - the thriving Hoopoe Haven of Donbas, a testament to resilience and hope.
There are thought provoking questions (and possible answers) at the end of the story.
Learning Objectives:
Understanding Conflict: The material offers insights into the dynamics of territorial conflicts and their ramifications for those caught in the crossfire.
Effects of War or Conflict on Youth: The content underlines the deep-seated impact of hostilities on the mental and physical health of children and adolescents.
Resilience and Hope: Through character experiences, the narrative highlights the human capacity for endurance and the quest for collective healing amidst adversity.
Cultural Insight: The text provides a window into the complexities of a region's culture and the intense obstacles its inhabitants endure.
Human Rights: The narrative serves as a primer for dialogues concerning the safeguarding of civilians and the enforcement of human rights in times of strife.
Peacebuilding: The book promotes an investigation into the adoption of nonviolent strategies for mitigating disputes and fostering reconciliation at the community level.
