The questions are placed in order with the book. Students can answer these questions as the book is read or after they have finished reading the book or listening to the book. While reading this book and answering questions, students will learn about what the expression, \"The gimmies\" means, whining if you do not receive something you want, showing proper behavior, having a temper tantrum or throwing a fuss, if you feel angry or frustrated what you could do, embarrassing situations, being selfish or greedy, and counting your blessings/being thankful for what you have. Students can answer these short answer questions and multiple choice questions as the book is read to them, as they read the book independently or they can use the text for lookbacks once the book is finished. Vocabulary words, their meanings, and examples of the words used in sentences are presented. As bombings, power outages, water shortages, and infrastructure damage disrupt daily life, Aisha describes her fears for her family's safety and her disrupted education. She finds resilience through community support and small acts of normalcy like playing games with friends. Temporary ceasefires provide glimpses of peace amid the violence. But tensions frequently boil over into clashes and protests at the border, unleashing new rounds of bombardment. Aisha conveys the mental and physical toll of living through endless cycles of war and deprivation in Gaza. Yet she retains hope for justice and freedom in the future, fueled by the strength of her community. Throughout her diary, Aisha gives an intimate account of what it's like to come of age in Gaza against a backdrop of conflict and hardship.\x3C/p>\x3Cp>There are thought provoking questions (and possible answers) at the end of the story.\x3C/p>\x3Cp>General Learning Objectives for Deep by Design stories:\x3C/p>\x3Cp>Understanding Conflict: The material offers insights into the dynamics of territorial conflicts and their ramifications for those caught in the crossfire.\x3C/p>\x3Cp>Effects of War or Conflict on Youth: The content underlines the deep-seated impact of hostilities on the mental and physical health of children and adolescents.\x3C/p>\x3Cp>Resilience and Hope: Through character experiences, the narrative highlights the human capacity for endurance and the quest for collective healing amidst adversity.\x3C/p>\x3Cp>Cultural Insight: The text provides a window into the complexities of a region's culture and the intense obstacles its inhabitants endure.\x3C/p>\x3Cp>Human Rights: The narrative serves as a primer for dialogues concerning the safeguarding of civilians and the enforcement of human rights in times of strife.\x3C/p>\x3Cp>Peacebuilding: The book promotes an investigation into the adoption of nonviolent strategies for mitigating disputes and fostering reconciliation at the community level.\x3C/p>");$R[474]($R[705],"\x3Cp>A \x3Cstrong>close reading passage\x3C/strong> with a teacher presentation, comprehension and grammar questions, a multiple choice quiz, a crossword puzzle and a wordsearch about the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest, and the first summit ascents on the mountain.\x3C/p>\x3Cp>The \x3Cstrong>NO PREP\x3C/strong> informational text worksheets are perfect for students in \x3Cstrong>fifth grade or sixth grade\x3C/strong>. Many reading programs such as the Science of Reading, Logic of English and All About Reading have found that for reading comprehension to improve, a student’s ability to decode must increase. A powerful tool to improve student decoding skills is through the use of decodable texts.
With a Bible decodable text, you will also be increasing the student’s knowledge of the Bible and help grow their faith in Jesus!
Thank you and HAPPY TEACHING!!

Make sure to note:
This is for ONE Bible Story Decodable reader resource. Others are /will be listed separately in my store.
For most decodable readers the writer can ‘make up’ a story by choosing from only these types of words. However, to accurately tell the Bible story, I had to use a few sight words and Bible vocabulary.
These are not meant to be in-depth Bible lessons. These are meant to support your reading program, integrating the Bible into early learning!

Gaza Diary: Shadow of Hope - Realistic Fiction
By Mark Holmes
This story is also available as part of an eight story ebook, "Young Voices: Eight Short Stories of Courage & Resilience."
Aisha, a 13-year-old girl living in Gaza city, chronicles her experiences through a diary during a period of intense conflict between Israeli forces and Hamas militants in Gaza. Throughout her diary, Aisha gives an intimate account of what it's like to come of age in Gaza against a backdrop of conflict and hardship.
There are thought provoking questions (and possible answers) at the end of the story.
General Learning Objectives for Deep by Design stories:
Understanding Conflict: The material offers insights into the dynamics of territorial conflicts and their ramifications for those caught in the crossfire.
Effects of War or Conflict on Youth: The content underlines the deep-seated impact of hostilities on the mental and physical health of children and adolescents.
Resilience and Hope: Through character experiences, the narrative highlights the human capacity for endurance and the quest for collective healing amidst adversity.
Cultural Insight: The text provides a window into the complexities of a region's culture and the intense obstacles its inhabitants endure.
Human Rights: The narrative serves as a primer for dialogues concerning the safeguarding of civilians and the enforcement of human rights in times of strife.
Peacebuilding: The book promotes an investigation into the adoption of nonviolent strategies for mitigating disputes and fostering reconciliation at the community level.
