Nonfiction Text Features Powerpoint - Editable

Looking for a great way to introduce nonfiction text features to your class? Try this power point! Use it for a presentation, or print as a handout. It makes a great mini book when printed four to a page, cut apart, and then stapled together as a quarter page sized book! This power point about 17 different nonfiction text features (including two for the internet) is fully editable, meaning you can alter the text to fit your lessons, as well as scan and insert your own images instead of the ones I used, if you wanted to do so. In addition, you can easily delete the slides you don’t want, or duplicate a slide, then change the text / images to add different text features that you want to cover in your classroom. Information will present itself on a right click. For example, when you click for a new slide, the main definition and images for the text feature appear. As you click again, the first bulleted point will appear. The next click brings the next point, and so on. First, students decode a secret letter using numbers and letters. Then, they match characters with their correct descriptions. They unscramble famous lines from the play and choose the right potion to help Juliet fake her death. In another challenge, students sort characters into the Montague and Capulet families. Each puzzle brings them closer to the final clue.
The activities are fast, fun, and full of teamwork. Students need to read carefully, think critically, and work together under pressure. Each puzzle ties directly to the characters, themes, and events from Romeo and Juliet, helping students review the story in a creative way.

Benchmark 1st grade high-frequency words

These are the 124 high-frequency words for the Benchmark phonics curriculum for 1st grade! Each slide has the steps that the curriculum recommends- teacher reads, student reads, students spell and read, students write (and bonus- use it in a sentence)! I added in transitions to help you and the students see which step we are on and labels to tell you which unit and week the HF words are for.

This resource only works on the newest versions of PowerPoint, these are PowerPoint 365, PowerPoint 19, or higher. It doesn't work on Google Slides.
Do you have extra time in class and you don't know what to do? Do you want to show the students the books in a fun way? This is your tool.
It is totally editable. You can change the bitmoji and the titles of the books, changing their pictures for covers of other books, and changing their links for their corresponding links. You can even create your own reading-aloud videos and link them to the pictures.
How it works
Play the PowerPoint file in presentation mode. You will see a bitmoji (you can put yours) and a text that says "What book are we going to read today? (This question is also editable)
1. Click on the roulette and it will start spinning
2. Click again to stop the roulette. It will show a number from 1 to 12, and 12 book covers will be shown.
3. Click on the book that corresponds with the number shown in the roulette
4. Enjoy the read aloud

This is a great way to review for knowledge domain 3 content and assessment. This includes questions similar to the end of domain assessment, including vocabulary in context. Every question on assessment is covered in this review, though questions are not worded exactly the same. This can be played in teams, tables, or independent. Students will love the game aspect of this review! Best part is NO TEACHER PREP! Please make sure to click directly on the number.
