This is a US History lesson on the Westward Expansion of the United States. Product includes notes over topics such as Manifest Destiny, Western Settlement, Texas, Oregon, Utah, US-Mexican War, California, and the Gadsden Purchase. Also included are fill in the blanks worksheet with answer sheet and a US Territorial Acquisitions Map. Format is a PDF with a link to a Google Slide Presentation.3

** Are you looking for a resource to teach students to understand temporal concepts or are you Teaching sequence of events, Following directions or Sentence writing?  These syntax activities will teach your students how to understand 25, higher level temporal concepts (prior to, simultaneous, thereafter). It is a simple drill in which students are provided with a small scenario containing the word and asked to determine the meaning of the concept.**

You will receive a 26 Slide Lesson which contains the lesson and one Assessment worksheet to print.

The Lesson works well with older students (Grades 6- 10)  or with students who have mild  cognitive delays yet good language skills. An independent lesson will take about 30 minutes however if you are using it as a teaching tool during instruction the lesson can easily fill 60 minutes with breaks in between for group discussion. When I use this lesson with my Speech classroom it takes two  30 minute sessions and 60 minutes total.
