After reading "The Graveyard Book", students will make connections from their previous knowledge, what they have read, and information given to them during this activity to make connections. Do your students need some additional supports with expanding their thoughts when they are writing a paragraph? My students were having difficulty with developing ideas that were on topic & adding details to their writing. So, I made this as a practice to expanding their thoughts. (*this activity builds on my other writing packet which will be linked below)

What is included?

• While this is posted as a PDF, the first 11 pages were made as a way to begin discussions with your students. While you can use as posters or visual supports, I merely projected the pages onto my white board and we discussed the importance of our writings.
• 2 pages of matching - Each page has simple sentences students can read. They will draw lines from one side to the other to select the sentences that support one another.
• 2 pages of multiple choice - A sentence is provided, and students will select the sentence that supports it best from a choice of 4.
• Paragraph orders - 4 cut and paste pages. Students will read the sentences, cut them out, and place them in the correct order.
• Write a paragraph - Use the page of writing prompts to write a paragraph that has additional supporting details.
• Templates - Depending on the level of support your student needs I have included 3 different templates. The first is the hamburger, however adapted to support students in providing supporting details. The other templates are unlined/lined boxes.

Brrr! Winter has arrived, blanketing the world in a layer of sparkling snow. Today is the perfect day to build a snowman! But what if their snowman suddenly came to life?

What's Included?

1. Drawing Your Snowman: Before they dive into writing, they imagine its unique features: size, shape, facial expressions, accessories (hat, scarf, etc.). Let their artistic side shine!

• Narrative Writing: The Magical Moment: Tell the story! Describe the scene, their initial reaction, and how the snowman interacts with them. Did they talk to?

• Descriptive Writing: A Frosty Friend: Taking a closer look at their snowman. A descriptive paragraph detailing its appearance. Focus on specific features like its texture, the sparkle of the snow, or the way its eyes (made of buttons or pebbles) seem to come alive.
