This spring addition activity is a fun and engaging hands on math center for students to practice addition facts using number bonds, tens frames, number lines or number sentences to solve each addition problem using objects as counters on math mats. Check out the preview for a detailed look at each addition mat available!

How to Use:

Depending on the exact addition skill being taught, teachers will choose one of the addition mats for students to use to work on each addition problem. Counters should be provided to assist students with solving each addition equation. Students will draw one math fact card and solve it using the counters on the math mat. There is a recording sheet available should the teacher wish for students to record the addition facts they solved.

These addition cards make a great task box activity. The cards and counters can be stored in the same box for easy set up, clean up and storage.

The students work together to complete each story problem. ~SCOOT activity Place the cards around the classroom. Give each student a recording sheet. It's Spring Counting Money time! Have fun teaching your students Money Skills with this SPRING themed, differentiated, comprehensive mixed money unit! Do your students need additional support identifying money, counting money, matching dollar amounts to currency and make purchases using the "next dollar up" method?

Functional money skills such as counting and identifying money to make purchases are critical to successful daily living. This SPRING Counting Mixed Money Unit reinforces these skills with progressively harder tasks beginning with matching dollar to dollar, progressing on to matching prices with dollars, then using the next dollar up method to make a purchase. The currency is in US dollars from $1 to $10. There 3 levels of learning with 10 cards per level!

This is an excellent resource for a range of students, from those with IEP Math or Money Goals to transition-to-work students and elementary students learning money skills. It is a great addition to any math/ supported employment program or math center. These activities can also support Transition Plans!

What has worked best for my students was to print to on heavy duty card stock and laminate.

This addition activity is a fun and engaging hands on math center for students to practice addition facts using number bonds, tens frames, number lines or number sentences to solve each addition problem using objects as counters on math mats. How to Use:

Depending on the exact addition skill being taught, teachers will choose one of the addition mats for students to use to work on each addition problem. Counters should be provided to assist students with solving each addition equation. Students will draw one math fact card and solve it using the counters on the math mat. There is a recording sheet available should the teacher wish for students to record the addition facts they solved.

These addition cards make a great task box activity. The cards and counters can be stored in the same box for easy set up, clean up and storage.

This is a set of PART-PART-WHOLE cards Sums to 10 with an Easter theme. You'll get 24 different cards printed 2 on a sheet perfect for math stations or Math Around the Room with 2 recording sheets. Colored Set A-X, 2 pages per sheet; Suggested use if to place in a math center. Cut the one sheet in half, separating Card A from Card B. Place in math rub with a set of recording sheets run front to back if you want them to access all 24 at once. Or, you can place A-L with the first recording sheet, and replace at a different time with the next 12 cards, to refresh. I have the students write the complete equation on the recording sheet, so for example A) 2+2=4 B) 4+1=5 It’s so much easier for me to check at a glance and gives the students needed practice writing full equations.

Black & White Set A-X, 2 pages per sheet: Suggested use, same as above. Provided for saving on color ink.

Colored Large Pages, 1 problem per page: Suggested use, Teacher uses the cards during Math Talk/Number Talk, discussion at carpet with whole class or small groups. Using a few cards a day to prompt problem solving discussions and strategies for solving. Students discuss solutions and how they solved the problem. Other students add on to that thinking or share the way they solved it. The pages are enlarged so children can view easier in a whole group.

Other thoughts: Students can write answer only. Write answer as an addition equation only. Write answer as a subtraction equation only. Write both an addition & subtraction equation. Or write all 4 parts of a fact family.

Example: Card B, 4+1=5, 1+4=5, 5-4=1, 5-1=4

Problem-Solving: These cards can be used for creating word problems. Take a card, create your own word problems from the card. Example; Card B There were 4 bunnies hopping through the fields, then some more bunnies joined them. Now there are 5 bunnies in all hopping in the field. How many bunnies joined the group of 4?

Algebra Challenge: Card B; 4+x=5 Solve for x.
