Fruits of the Spirit Pack #4 | Bible Sacred Classical Music Listening Activities
By Agee and Row Classical Music Appreciation
With its emotional depth and grandeur, classical musicresonates with the human spirit in ways words often struggle to. As students listen to sacred classical music carefully chosen for their thematic connection to Christian concepts, they can forge deeper personal connections to their Bible-based beliefs.
The beauty and complexity of sacred classical music prompts students to slow down, reflect on the lyrics and themes, and contemplate the deeper meaning of their faith. This introspective music appreciation can lead to new insights and a more nuanced understanding. Great for homeschoolers, Sunday school, and faith-based teaching applications!
Featured Sacred Music
Listening to music associated with creation, redemption, hope, or sacrifice can bring these stories to life in a powerful way, fostering a deeper understanding and emotional connection to Christianity.
Concepts and Themes
Performance Type - hymn, gospel, praise, chorus, choir, classical, opera, worship, modern
Draw a Scene Box - there is generous space for students to draw a scene inspired by the music, doodle, and be creative and expressive while listening to the selected music. There is also artwork to color!
Fruits of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control
Emotions - reverent, inspired, uplifted, peaceful, thankful, happy, calm, sad, joyful, excited

Journey through the "Fruits of the Spirit" and "Emotions," tracing their echoes in the music and finding parallels in their own lives. Be it the unwavering "love" in a choir's harmonization or the calming "peace" evoked by a serene solo flute, students connect the music to their Christian faith and inner world.
Sacred classical music allows students to reflect on the fundamental values of "Life" and "Faith," pondering how they manifest in the stories told through music and scripture. Throughout this musical experience, listeners explore the diverse voices of various instruments, from the soaring trumpet to the gentle harp. Each sound plays a role in the tapestry of music, just like each individual has a unique contribution.
Students use the "Reflection Writing Box" to capture their thoughts and feelings. There is plenty of space to write down keywords that resonated with them, describe their unique listening experiences, and journal any questions or insights that emerged. This is their space to process, connect, and express any concepts the music awakened.
Student Benefits
By incorporating sacred classical music activities, students explore more than just melodies and harmonies; but also a bridge to inner exploration, fostering empathy, reflection, and a deeper appreciation for the Christian faith. These listening activities are great tools for lifelong learning, self-awareness, and connection!

Apple Music Curator Playlist Assignment - Great for Back to School!
By MsNerdWood
This package includes 4 tasks to get your students thinking about their musical choices. What Is Included: Task 1: Create Your Apple Playlist Task 2: Descriptive Paragraph About Your Playlist Task 3: Cover Art Design Task 4: Reflection Questions (Equity and Inclusivity) Rubric I typically give this assignment out at the beginning of the school year to get to know my student’s taste in music. It takes between 4-6 periods to complete and is appropriate for grade 5-8. Please note: This assignment works best if you are able to access Apple Music. As a teacher, you could always set up a free account to show to your students or ask your students if any of them already have it and would be willing to show the class how it works. Spend some time and show them how to use it if you have access to it. You can also see some demos from the Apple website. If you do not subscribe to Apple Music, I highly recommend it. You can still use this assignment without Apple Music with your students and they can reflect on the inclusivity of the playlist that they create. TIPS: 1. Be sure to leave feedback to earn your TeachShare credits! 2. If you like what you see - follow me for new products and updates (click the star by my store name MsNerdWood).

SOLFEGE BATTLE ROYALE! (Great for Centers!)
By Jason Litt
In SOLFEGE BATTLE ROYALE, students will receive a deck of random solfege syllables which they will turn face down and keep them to themselves.
Students may receive two of the same card, three of the same card, or even no particular solfege card during the game. (You will decide whether students get 10, 15, 20, etc... the more cards the students get, the more opportunities they have to play... and win!!!)
Students (up to 5 players) may sit in a circle or around a hula hoop and count down from 3… They will say "3...2...1... BATTLE!"
As soon as they hit the word “BATTLE!”, just like the card game "WAR" every student in the circle throws their top card down into the circle
The students will look around and identify which syllable is the highest in the series. As we’ve learned, the syllables go ascending (up) from the following syllables…
Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti
Once the students identify the highest syllable, the student with the highest syllable is declared the winner of that battle!
The student gets to take all of the cards from the other students and repeat again
Then they keep it going and going and going! Then the students play a new round until time is up and whoever is left with the most solfege cards at the end of the game is the winner!
All you need are:
You're there to just facilitate :) Have a great time with this, kids LOVE it!
