(Orange Shirt Day is a day of remembrance that originated in Canada to honor the survivors and victims of the residential school system. It is observed annually on September 30th. The day aims to raise awareness about the history and long-lasting effects of residential schools, which were institutions where the government forcibly sent Indigenous children in an attempt to assimilate them into Euro-Canadian culture. Many of these children experienced abuse, neglect, and loss of their cultural identities.)
