These guided notes are a great way to instruct and/or review your ratios unit! Topics include introduction to ratios, equivalent ratios, modeling equivalent ratios (ratio table, double number line, tape diagram), rates and unit rates, graphing ratios, ratios as percent, and converting between fractions, decimals and percents. Each topic includes key vocabulary, step by step instructions, and practice problems. My students use their notebook as a key resource throughout the entire year. Even past students come back to me to tell me that they still use their 6th grade notebooks. **These notes are only for the Ratios Unit.    Every year my students struggle with division. The fear of  finding the right number to start the quotient paralyzes them. Over the years I’ve found a couple tricks to get my students started thinking of compatible numbers they could try as the quotient and then work backwards or forwards depending on the answer. Giving them a starting point takes away the fear. I hope this anchor chart/ student notebook printable helps give your students the confidence to find possible quotients it has given my students.

This slideshow and corresponding notes & practice packet focus on division with unit fractions including 1/a divided by b and a divided by 1/b. There are some bonus/challenge problems included for students needing more of a challenge that have mixed numbers and non-unit fractions.

This uses visuals and connects to students prior knowledge about division as dividing into equal groups or dividing into groups of a certain size. It does not use Keep Change Flip or any tricks.

This math notebook is full of guided notes for all 6th grade math standards. A great way to introduce new concepts, or review for state testing. These notes are full of step-by-step instructions, key vocabulary words, examples, and practice opportunities. These guided notes allow for engagement and interaction during instruction, without having to copy too much down. They also serve as a great way to introduce a concept and create a valuable resource for students to use both at home and at school.

These notes are the product of 11 years of using 6th grade math notes in class and adapting/editing the product each year to be sure I have a comprehensive and easy to understand resource for all my students.
