Elementary School Scaffolded Notes

This math notebook is full of guided notes for all 5th grade math standards. A great way to introduce new concepts, or review for state testing. These notebook pages include step-by-step instructions, key vocabulary words, examples, and practice opportunities. A math notebook is a valuable resource for students to use both at home and at school. These 5th Grade math notes can be used during direct instruction, guided practice, or to independently review a topic. They allow for engagement and interaction during instruction, without having to copy too much down.

Included are all 5th grade Common Core standards as well as a few review and extension concepts I have found beneficial for students. A teacher's guide is also included with answers, as well as an 80+ term glossary with key vocabulary words. Please note, these are in PDF format and are not editable.

Dear Educators,

   Every year my students struggle with division. The fear of  finding the right number to start the quotient paralyzes them. Over the years I’ve found a couple tricks to get my students started thinking of compatible numbers they could try as the quotient and then work backwards or forwards depending on the answer. This slideshow and corresponding notes & practice packet focus on division with unit fractions including 1/a divided by b and a divided by 1/b. There are some bonus/challenge problems included for students needing more of a challenge that have mixed numbers and non-unit fractions.

This uses visuals and connects to students prior knowledge about division as dividing into equal groups or dividing into groups of a certain size. It does not use Keep Change Flip or any tricks.

This math notebook is full of guided notes for all 6th grade math standards. A great way to introduce new concepts, or review for state testing. These notes are full of step-by-step instructions, key vocabulary words, examples, and practice opportunities. These guided notes allow for engagement and interaction during instruction, without having to copy too much down. They also serve as a great way to introduce a concept and create a valuable resource for students to use both at home and at school.
