Less than $5 English Language Arts Projects (by price, low to high)

This product was a special request by a teacher in Nevada for her kids to make to give to the victims of the Las Vegas shootings. They can be used for any occasion where a tragedy or illness has affected the school. There are several varieties for students to choose what they would like and a blank template for students to write the words on their own if they so choose.

This may be the most meaningful assignment you give to your students all year.

This product teaches students how to write a letter to a service member who is currently deployed overseas. It describes the importance of writing to our military and gives suggestions for what to say. I use this as an extra credit assignment and hold my students to high standards about the content of their letters. It is incredibly important that genuine thought and effort go into the letters as they are going to real people currently fighting for our country.

This is an activity for identifying 3 letter beginning blends SPL, STR, and SPR. There are multiple activities that you can do with your students with this product. I used it for identifying the blends but you could also have students create their own words that they know start with the blends. This is a create resource for displaying student work. Merry Christmas! This is a self-portrait that students will create of themselves. They will then use adjectives to describe their self-portraits/themselves and place them in the ornaments surrounding the self-portrait. There are included cutouts for the self-portrait if students would like to add more things to make it look more like Christmas. The Santa hat, antlers, and ears have already been shaped to fit the head. Students will just need to cut them out.

I hope this helps get your students into the Christmas spirit! This will be a great product for displaying student work also. I hope you enjoy it!

Celebrate Mother's Day by having your students create this adorable purse, booklet, and necklace. Students will be able to give it to someone who is special in their lives for Mother's Day. They may fill out their responses on kid-lined paper in the booklet to answer prompts. The booklet comes in primary lines and secondary lines. Students will enjoy creating a purse and necklace to give to someone they love. The purse has decorations for students to cut out and glue to the inside or the front. They can also make the decorations have a 3-Dimesional effect if they choose by simply cutting on the dotted lines and folding on the solid lines. This project is super easy to assemble.

This creative writing assignment should accompany Ellen Raskin's book The Westing Game. These are the directions I typically give for filling out summaries:

Print off as many pages as your student will need to complete chapter summaries for each chapter in their book or each assigned section of their reading in order to summarize their book accurately.

I have also provided a cover page, allowing students to collect all their pages together and submit a completed project. A basic rubric is included as well.

This is a fun, engaging mini-project in which students act as newspaper staff writer and illustrator for Poe's most gruesome tales, The Tell-Tale Heart and The Black Cat. The project is differentiated for multiple learning styles and is a fun way to bring the stories of Edgar Allan Poe to life! I recommend giving this assignment after reading both stories as close to Halloween as possible. This assignment works just as well in class as it does for homework.
