What Do You Think Happened Emotions Worksheets
By SEN Resource Source
Set of 18 worksheets showing pictures of children with a variety of emotions. Students to draw and write about what they think happened to make the child feel this way.
Why do you need this?
This activity can help children become more aware of different emotions and how they manifest in facial expressions. By reflecting on what might have caused the emotions depicted, students can develop empathy and understanding towards others' feelings.
Drawing and writing about emotions encourage students to express their thoughts and feelings in a creative way. It supports language development as students describe emotions and articulate possible scenarios that led to them.
How and when might you use this?
These worksheets could be used in a variety of ways:
· Social emotional learning lessons focused on emotional intelligence and empathy.
· Group discussions in which students can share their interpretations of the emotions shown and brainstorm possible reasons behind them.
· Writing prompts for story writing.
· Counseling sessions to facilitate discussions about students' emotions and experiences, providing valuable insights for educators and counselors.
What is included?
18 worksheets – 9 in color and 9 in black and white
By Erin Cusumano
An eco-map is often used an assessment tool in clinical mental health settings, but can be a beneficial SEL activity for social awareness. This exercise can be modified for small children all the way through adults.
The graph asks the participant to picture their social life as an ecosystem where they are at the center. In the blank space around them they can write in all of their formal and informal social ties and resources they have. (For younger children I suggest offering the option to draw the people in their life!) For further reflection, the participant can then add a + to signify if the person/resource is a positive part of their life, a - to signify if the person/resource is a negative part of their life, or write +- to signify a give and take relationship.
I use this worksheet along with social awareness lessons to encourage students to think about who they can ask for help from, who they have as supports, or reflect on relationships. It also allows you to gain insight into your students' life and resources outside of the classroom.

*********************************************************
When people do things we don’t like, we get upset, angry, hurt, and/or disappointed because they don’t act or behave in a manner that we want or expect them to. Sometimes, we try to force or manipulate them into acting and behaving a certain way. We need to give up on trying to control others by letting them make their own decisions and verbalizing and dealing with our disappointments in an appropriate manner.
It is important for teenagers to understand that the way they react and respond to situations can either add fuel to the fire or diffuse tension, resolve conflict, and minimize negative emotions. Teaching teens how to respond appropriately to situations both verbally and nonverbally, even when they are angry, hurt, and disappointed can greatly help them prevent conflicts from escalating.
These THREE activities will give students to practice managing their disappointments, anger, and concerns in an appropriate manner. Students will practice expressing their concerns, disappointments, or feelings in a way that is mature and respectful.
This resource features a total of 6 real-life, highly relevant scenarios that come in the following variations BOTH Print and Digital):
Variation #1 - Graphic Organizer-style with example - A worksheet that includes a total of two scenarios and an example of how NOT to respond in the given situations. Students will, instead, determine appropriate and mature ways to respond in such situations. (Variation #1 worksheets include a total of 3 worksheets / 2 scenarios on each worksheet.) Answer Keys are included for this variation.
Variation #2 - Writing Response-style - Worksheets that include one scenario (***the SAME scenarios in VARIATION #1 worksheets). This variation is a writing response-style worksheet. (Variation #2 worksheets include a total of 6 worksheets and the SAME exact scenarios in Variation #1 worksheets!) Students read the scenario and answer the following question:
How would you manage your emotions in this situation? How would you express your concern, disappointment, or feelings in a way that is mature and respectful?
☆☆☆ The different variations can greatly support your differentiation efforts!

Classroom Behavior Management Strategies and Interventions
By Rebekah Poe Teaching
Keep this quick reference guide for classroom behavior management strategies and interventions handy for when difficult behaviors arise in the classroom.
Print the Classroom Behavior Management Strategies and Interventions Quick Reference Guide on cardstock (laminate if preferred) and punch a hole in the top left corner. Use a binder ring to secure the pages together.
Use page 1 of quick reference guide as a way to determine an idea of the function of your student’s behavior. The box with the greatest number of checks should be considered as a possible function of the behavior. NOTE: THIS QUICK REFERENCE DOES NOT AND SHOULD NOT TAKE THE PLACE OF A FUNCTIONAL BEHAVIOR ASSESSMENT FOR SIGNIFICANT BEHAVIORS.
After determining a possible function, flip to the page of the book for that function to see a list of behavioral strategies to alleviate the negative behavior. Behavioral interventions are also suggested by function. NOTE: THESE STRATEGIES AND IDEAS FOR INTERVENTION DO NOT AND SHOULD NOT TAKE THE PLACE OF A BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION PLAN.
