Why do you need this?

To help children develop emotional intelligence and self-awareness. By reflecting on their thoughts and emotions during moments of anger, children can gain insight into their own mental processes and learn to recognize patterns in their behavior. This can empower them to manage their emotions more effectively, identify triggers for their anger, and develop healthier coping strategies. Additionally, it provides teachers with an opportunity to open up discussions about emotions and problem-solving skills in the classroom.

How and when might you use this?

This resource could be used in a variety of ways:

· Guided group activities - you could provide prompts or examples to help children identify positive and negative thoughts associated with anger. For example, positive thoughts might include "I can calm down" or "I can talk about how I feel." Negative thoughts could include "Nobody understands me" or "I'll never get what I want."

· 1:1 individual reflection - children can reflect on their own experiences with anger and fill out the worksheet independently. Encourage them to be honest and open about their thoughts and feelings.

· Group discussion - After completing the worksheet, facilitate a group discussion where children can share their responses if they feel comfortable. This can help normalize the experience of anger and provide opportunities for peer support and learning.

Peer pressure is real and all too common! Teens constantly experience all kinds of peer pressure (positive and negative) both in and out of school. Peer pressure can ultimately affect teens' decision-making, behaviors, emotions, and self-esteem. It's often hard to navigate difficult situations when dealing with negative peer pressure and hard to take risks when experiencing positive peer pressure.

PASSAGE TITLE: “Forgiveness”

This resource includes ONE full-page reading passage related to Forgiveness and Perspective-taking. The passage is in dialogue form to make it more interesting and relatable. To determine whether this passage is suitable for your students, this is what the passage is about:

A female teenager feels angry and betrayed because her male best friend revealed her big secret. As a result, she ignores his calls and text messages giving him no opportunity to explain why he revealed her big secret. Her female friend encourages her to listen to his side of the story, understand his perspective, and practice forgiveness. (Positive Peer Pressure)

After students read the passage, they will complete a worksheet that consists of four open-ended questions and support their responses with evidence from the text.

A detailed Answer Key is included to help you review the answers and engage your students in meaningful discussions.

Students can complete this behavior tracker to show how well they were able to:

Follow directions

Participate

Have a positive attitude

Stay on task

I added room for the teacher to write in how many (if any) prompts are acceptable to follow directions and stay on task. I also left room for a percentage of work that should be completed. I know often my special education students struggle to complete assignments due to lack of focus, etc. So I might put that one student needs to complete 70% of his assignment and then gradually increase it. There is space for that to be written in in the chart.

Students can choose a big smiley face, a small smiling face, and a frowning face to show how well they were able to maintain the directives. At the bottom there is room for teacher signature and comments. At the top, the student has space to write what assignment he or she is assessing.

Two sheets print per page to save paper.

Help students keep track of their moods. These worksheets can allow students to identify their triggers and see how their moods fluctuate on a day to day basis.

Great for morning check ins, individual sessions, or end of day check in's.

Simply have students color in the bunnies or flowers according to how they're feeling. Color coded map included. Three different Spring themed mood trackers.
