Owl At Home poke cards are a great independent, partner or guided reading group comprehension activity. The poke cards are self checking. Students will answer the question by selecting one of three choices. Using a pencil, straw, or pipe cleaner, students will poke through the hole to choose their answer. The correct answer will have a mark above or around the hole. The poking process quickly engages the students and provides immediate feedback to them. Cards have chapter titles on them for ease of organization. Guided reading group time has always been a favorite time in my classroom. Students love the closeness of the small group and reading a book chosen just for them! Stink The Incredible Shrinking Kid is the first book in the Stink series. This great book would be a wonderful connection to a math measurement unit and/or President’s Day. The format is half page (my students LOVE the booklet format). Copy front/back, staple and you’re ready to go.
