I LOVE giving students fun and engaging activities that they don't even realize has them practicing their decoding skills and immersing themselves in the Science of Reading all while having fun!

Who can use this resource:

What grade level:

I personally use these colouring activities with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.

Science of Reading:

These texts are aligned with sounds being taught in any Science of Reading aligned curriculum. They are set up for student success based on the research for increasing reading fluency and building student confidence in the classroom!

Words That Rhyme - Pumpkin Themed:

This is a fun activity that not only focuses on matching rhyming words but also gives your students a way to practice their fine motor cutting skills. There are #10 different fall words (in both black and white as well as color). Each word has #5 different words to cut out and then choose which words rhyme with the fall themed word on the pumpkin. They will then glue the words that rhyme to the pumpkin. Below is a list of the #10 fall themed words. There is both a black and white copy as well as a copy in color for each word that you can choose from. Sometimes I prefer printing in color and then other times I like to give my students the opportunity to make it their own and color their work. So it just depends on which way you prefer!

Clifford's Halloween is a great holiday book for students to read to learn about Halloween, other holidays such as Christmas, New Year's Eve, Valentine's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, are briefly reviewed in this product as well, the kinds of activities that can be carried out at Halloween parties, what the characters wanted to dress up as for Halloween, and Halloween safety tips, and how to stay safe on Halloween. Students can answer these questions as the book is read to them, as they read the book independently or they can use the text for lookbacks once the book is finished.
