Early Elementary (K-2) Catch the Sight Word Games
By A Teachers Sidekick
This is a collection of sight word games that I created for Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. Each game, you are catching some sort of animal with the sight words written on them.
**These activities will take some prep. Other materials you will need will be popsicle sticks, glue/tape, and scissors**
Between 1 to 4 students can play this game. To play the game, you will need to lay out the animals with the words facing up. Have students sit or stand beside each other with the nets in their hands, holding them all in the same position (so no one tries to cheat). Then call out a word. Students will race to find and catch the animals with the word on it first. Whichever student catches the animal first, they take that animal and add it to their pile. Once all the animals are caught, have students count up how many they have. Whoever has the most wins.
I hope you enjoy the product. Please rate and review.

Vocabulary Builder Fill in the Blanks worksheets Level 1
By Peter D
Note to Teachers
This set of worksheets consists of 112 pages of Fill in the Blanks exercises. Each page has at least ten words or phrases for students to fill in the blanks in the given sentences.
Learning new vocabulary is an important part of language development. Instead of simply memorizing vocabulary lists, it is beneficial to learn new vocabulary words in some kind of meaningful context.
Fill in the Blanks exercises are effective at helping students develop their language skills in numerous ways. Each vocabulary word must be placed in the blank based on meaning of the sentence. This task challenges students to first understand the meaning of the sentence and then select the appropriate word. It is an effective task for developing cognitive skills as well as general language skills.
The vocabulary words in these exercise pages were selected from various stories that we have studied. These words are found quite commonly in written texts so it is useful for students to acquire these vocabulary words.
If students are unfamiliar with some of these words, then students are encouraged to use a dictionary or work together in small groups.
I have found that students enjoy these types of activities and that students can develop various useful skills related to language development.
Levels: There are four sets of vocabulary builder worksheets divided into four levels. The approximate range of grades for each level is listed below.
Vocabulary Worksheets:
Vocabulary Builder Level 1: Grades 1-4
Vocabulary Builder Level 2: Grades 3-6
Vocabulary Builder Level 3: Grades 5-8
Vocabulary Builder Level 4: Grades 7-10 (under construction)

First Grade Saxon Phonics Spelling Word Work Weekly Worksheets
By Dovie Funk
This is a set of 25 weekly pages of word work practice. In my first grade classroom, we use this every Thursday to practice for the spelling test on Friday. The worksheets align with Saxon Phonics and Spelling 1. Every page is identical except for the words, so the students can complete the paper with little supervision after the first two or three weeks. The top section is for rainbow writing three words. The second section is for spinning (using a paper clip spinner) and writing words. At the bottom of the paper is a line to spin and write a sentence using that word. My children really look forward to this each week!
UPDATE: I've added in 25 BONUS pages that I use in class each week. On the left side of the page students code the words. On the right side of the page they write the words.

Engage students with a fun Letter Q Write the Room activity, where they find, identify, and record objects starting with the letter Q! Ideal for young learners practicing letter recognition.
Contents:
This Letter Q Write the Room Activity includes 12 images that begin with the letter Q, such as "quilt" and "queen." Students will find these images spread around the classroom and use one of the four recording sheets to track their discoveries. Two recording sheets are designed with images for early learners, while two feature primary lines for writing practice. The set also includes word walls in two forms—cut-out strips for notebooks or the classroom and a poster with images and their names. A glossary of words provides simple definitions, and a writing prompt encourages students to share their favorite letter Q word.
How the Product is Used:
To begin, teachers print the materials on 8.5x11 sheets in either color or black and white. After cutting out the cards, they hide them around the room for students to find. As students spot the letter Q images, they write them down using one of the included recording sheets. Teachers can use the word walls to reinforce vocabulary, while the glossary provides definitions for unfamiliar words. The final writing prompt lets students reflect on and choose their favorite letter Q word, helping to extend their understanding of the vocabulary.
Why You’ll Love This Product:
Teachers will appreciate the interactive, engaging approach to letter recognition and vocabulary development. The variety of recording sheets ensures this product can be adapted to different learning levels, while the word walls and glossary support word learning in multiple ways. Low-prep and versatile, this activity offers a creative way to reinforce letter Q learning, keeping students active and engaged. Kids will love the fun of hunting for hidden images and sharing their discoveries with classmates.
