Make learning English fun with this simple, comprehensible input English lesson plan and story. This lesson plan includes a story with targeted structures that can be repeated to give your students lots of repetitions. Comprehension activities to use after the story will allow you to engage your students and make sure that your English lesson is truly comprehensible input.

Jerome is in love with Sophie. But there's a problem - he's very, very small. So small that SOphie can't see him and doesn't know he exists. Can he find a way to get Sophieo notice him and go out with him on a date? There are four targeted vocabulary structures that are used multiple times throughout the story. The targeted structures are:

• in love with
• doesn’t see him
• he buys
• smaller than

This very simple story is told in two different ways. There is a printable text version, and an animated mp4 version. Tell the story as you watch it (pause if you want to stop and discuss or storyask!), or just watch it for comprehension. The video is just over 5 minutes long, with pause time for students to read the text. There is a second version of the video with only the illustrations - no text - so you can watch it and do story retells. With novice low and novice mid learners, you can tell the story as is. For novice high learners, you can add more details or write a parallel story. You could even use this story at higher levels by having students retell the story in the past.

Find someone who... This ESL group speaking activity is great for getting students to speak and practice their vocabulary when learning about HOUSE AND HOME. Your students will enjoy getting up and moving around the classroom as they ask their classmates questions that are listed on the worksheet which includes sixteen questions. This activity can also be used in any English speaking classroom as an ice-breaker or getting to know you activity.

This resource includes:

One worksheet to print out and make one copy for each student in your class. There are sixteen squares on the grid. Each square contains one question and a space to write a classmate’s name.

Instructions:

Have your students move around the room asking classmates the questions that are written in the squares on the grid that you provide. If a classmate responds with YES he or she writes his name on the line provided. Complete sentences are encouraged even when the answer is NO. Activity continues until all boxes are filled. Once all of the boxes have been signed your students can turn in their papers.

This is a fun, interactive way to review vocabulary about HOUSE AND HOME and to practice speaking. Your students will enjoy learning fun facts about their classmates, and you will certainly like hearing them speak English!

This 90-minute lesson plan is designed for high school students (Grades 9–12) studying Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Using the engaging "Video SparkNotes: Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein Summary" as a foundation, the lesson guides students through key plot points, characters, and major themes like responsibility, isolation, revenge, and the dangers of unchecked ambition.

The session begins with a warm-up activity to activate prior knowledge, followed by a focused video viewing and guided discussion to promote critical thinking.

Students then work in small groups to complete comprehension and analysis activities on a detailed worksheet. These tasks range from timeline sequencing and character analysis to exploring moral dilemmas and comparing Frankenstein’s actions to modern ethical issues in science. The lesson encourages students to reflect on who is more to blame—Frankenstein or his creation—and why that matters.

By the end of the class, students will have a deeper understanding of the novel’s structure, themes, and relevance. The worksheet includes a mix of creative and academic tasks, fostering engagement and interpretation. An answer key is provided to support both guided instruction and independent review. This lesson is perfect for literature units or as part of a larger discussion on Gothic fiction, ethics, or Romantic literature.

These Spanish Scenario Task Cards are geared towards Environment situations. Scenario Task Cards are a great, NO PREP way to get your Spanish 2, 3 and 4 students speaking or writing and using language creatively! They have open-ended prompts for students to use while speaking or writing.  (These are generic enough to be used with any curriculum!)  

There are 20 different scenarios which give students an idea of what to talk about in a story that they make up. The task cards come in 3 versions!  First I have a large scale digital version that can be displayed for the class.  The other version is printable (4 cards per page) and comes in both black and white and an attractive color version. Slides come with helpful vocab that students may need to discuss the scenario.

These Environment scenario task cards feature situations perfect for practicing talking about different concerns students or adults may have about pollution, climate change and other topics related to the environment.  The prompts ask students to talk about themselves and others in present, past and future time frames.  The prompts are in English. Google Slides can be modified if you need to change something to meet your students’ needs!

Bonus!  Also included is a peer feedback sheet and a self-assessment sheet!
