Coupon Binder -Teach your students or children the power of saving money
By Regina Frazier
Save lots of money while shopping using coupons. This colorful, cheerful binder organizes your coupons and makes it easier for you to find just the right coupon you are looking for while out shopping. Teach your students or children in your household the value of saving money by saving coupons. Create your own coupon binder by using baseball card holders that you can find at many dollar stores or office supply stores. You can either use a two inch or three inch binder to set it up and place all your dividers in. There are two coupon sorting sheets available. Rather than flipping through the pages in your binder to insert coupons which can take a lot of time, you can use the coupon sorting mats. Once the coupons are all sorted, you can then place them in your binder. Children of all ages can help with sorting the coupons. Many kids can also help out with gathering coupons and cutting them out. Have your students write about ways they can help their family save money. There are a couple of writing prompts that you could use to have your students share ways that they can help their families save money. This does not necessarily mean just using coupons. It could mean saving money by turning off the lights when not in use, not taking long showers, or turning in cans for redemption. Some kids might write about a job they do such as a paper route, mowing the grass or shoveling snow. Some students might choose to discuss buying items on sale at the store and not demanding expensive name brand items."Older students can work on the total amount of savings from using coupons. They can also work on figuring out percentages to show how much money is saved during each shopping trip and totals for each month. If you are interested in this product please download to see a few more pictures of what you will get. Money Skills & Budgeting Assessment -Life Skills ABA Autism SPED
By All Therapy Resources
This assessment can be utilized to identify a baseline for individuals around their knowledge of money. This assessment explores an individual’s ability to identify coins and notes, explores value, the ability to count money and budget. This assessment is divided into seven specific areas and each area can be used in isolation to each other, or together to form a comprehensive assessment.
These areas include:
1. Basic Numeracy Skills
2.Written amounts
3.Colour recognition and value
4.Coin and note recognition
5.Budgeting assessment
6.Monetary values
7.Budgeting
It is ideal that all sections are completed to give a general picture of the level of skills the Student currently has. The assessor needs to complete the scores in each section as well as placing a comment next to the score. It is important that the assessor provides a comment so that all relevant material can be extracted, and the most appropriate program be designed for each Student.
SCORING - the assessor is to place a number score into the column next to the question. The scores go from 1 - 3 depending on the skill of the Student.
1. Completed independently - i.e., no assistance at all from the assessor, (no verbal or gestural prompts).
2. Completed with assistance - i.e., assessor may need to verbally prompt or point to correct response.
3. Can not do - even with prompts the Student is unable to complete correct response.
From the baseline a money recognition / budget program can be developed to meet the individual needs of each Student.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED - The assessor will need to have the following equipment available prior to commencing the assessment:
• Money in the form of coins and notes up to the value of $100.00. Should you not have the physical money, this resource includes the options to print a paper copy of the coins/notes which will suffice.
• A printed copy of this assessment and associated worksheets.
NOTE: This assessment is designed for Australian audiences as it uses Australian money.

Fight, Flight, Freeze SEL Lesson Using "Eleven" by Sandra Cisneros & TEST
By Ms. J's ELA
This social emotional learning lesson uses Sandra Cisneros's short story Eleven. During this SEL lesson, students read the short story, view a YouTube video, and reflect on their own stress responses. There are journal entries and opportunities for small and large group discussions as well.
This resource includes:
- links to all relevant materials
- an engaging Google Slides presentation to follow
- a lesson guide which lays out each step of the lesson along with timing
- a self-graded Google Form test
This resource could easily be used by a substitute.
This lesson has always been a favorite of my middle school students. The topic is enlightening for kids who have felt stress responses without understanding what is really happening in their brains and bodies (pretty much all kids). Eleven is a fantastic story to use when learning about stress response because readers are often frustrated by the way the main character responds to the stressor she faces. This is a great way to integrate SEL into an English class.
