Resources perfectly complement any Shakespearean play and can be used to introduce the unit (like the Elizabethan Mini-Unit, Scavenger Hunt, and PowerPoint), throughout the unit (Bell Ringers, Sonnet Lesson Plan, and \"Death Lines\" Activity), as a review (Shakespeare Escape Room), and even to decorate your classroom (Quote Posters). Each product is thoughtfully crafted and inspires students to delve deeply into Shakespeare's life and works. Lessons have all been classroom-tested and allow for differentiation while encouraging optimal student engagement. You will not find tedious lists of comprehension questions and vocabulary words in this bundle; instead you will find materials that will make Shakespeare relevant in the eyes of your students and bring the Bard to life!\n\n**Included in this Bundle:**\n\n**⭐ Elizabethan England Mini-Unit**\n\nThis is a differentiated mini-unit on Elizabethan England to prepare students for studying Shakespeare's works! It can be used as an introduction to any of Shakespeare's plays. It begins with a day of research into Shakespeare's life and times, then asks students to create a group collage on their topic and ultimately perform a presentation of their findings.\n\n**⭐ Introduction to Shakespeare Powerpoint, Scavenger Hunt & Lesson Plan**\n\nThis resource features everything you need to conduct the perfect introduction to William Shakespeare for your students. Shakespeare can be undeniably intimidating for students, particularly if they have never had experience with reading his work before, so this lesson aims to engage and show that the greatest writer of all time was actually a pretty cool guy. The powerpoint offers a brief glimpse into the life and times of William Shakespeare and takes about 30 minutes to run through while encouraging optimal student engagement. The scavenger hunt encourages active learning as students discover answers to the 21 important questions throughout the lesson about the man, the myth, the Bard himself. This lesson plan and accompanying materials can be used to introduce a unit on any of Shakespeare's plays.\n\n**⭐Shakespeare ESCAPE ROOM**\n\nThere is no wonder why escape rooms are so popular; they are highly engaging and encourage people to work together and think creatively in order to solve different puzzles... all while trying to beat the clock! This meticulously-crafted resource features all of the materials you need to conduct a full-length Shakespearean Escape Room. Planning an escape room may seem like quite the daunting task, but this product provides everything from the basics and set-up instructions to signs and answer keys so that yours runs smoothly from start to finish. The activity involves movement, energy, creative thinking and most of all, collaboration. Your students will be having so much fun that they won’t even realize the higher order thinking skills they are applying in the playing of this game.\n\n**⭐ 25 Shakespeare Bell Ringer Journal Prompts**\n\nThis resource features a set of 25 reader response journal prompts for use during your unit on Shakespeare. Each bell ringer is comprised of a Shakespearean quote from one of his plays or sonnets and a thoughtfully crafted question that encourages students to personally connect and appreciate the timelessness of his work. Prompts can be used as bell-ringers (most popular and mean the first 5 minutes of every class for more than a month are planned for you!), summarizers, stations, full class or small group discussion questions, for homework, sub plans, as a filler activity… the possibilities are endless!\n\n**⭐ Sonnet 130 Lesson Plan**\n\nIn this creative and engaging lesson plan, students will analyze one of Shakespeare's most famous love sonnets about the notorious Dark Lady and create their own original poetry inspired by the Bard. This resource provides step-by-step instructions using a format of warm-up, explanation, application, and synthesis with the aim to engage students from beginning to end. A teacher cheat sheet is also included with full notes on Sonnet 130 so **no preparation is needed.**\n\n**⭐ Shakespeare Valentine's Day Lesson Plan**\n\nThis full-length lesson plan revolves around Shakespeare's mastery of the English language with an emphasis on his knack for coming up with the most compassionate of compliments and scathing of insults. Through a non-intimidating approach, students will have the opportunity to do a little bit of acting and make connections to modern day as they explore Shakespeare's language of love and hate. I am always astounded by the level of maturity of the discussion that arises from this activity as students discuss what makes a compliment or insult particularly effective and from whom it means the most. This is sure to be a lesson that you will use again and again on February 14th.\n\n**⭐ Shakespeare's \"Death Lines\" Lesson Plan**\n\nIn this full-length lesson plan, students will closely examine the final lines of Shakespearean characters before their deaths (if you know Shakespeare, there are quite a few!). Following a mini-lesson on the importance of these final words, students will take part in the classic game, Mafia, with a unique, Shakespearean twist. I invented the take on this game several years ago and it has become one of my students' and my favorite days of the whole school year. There is truly nothing like seeing students having a great time while studying Shakespeare. I am confident that your students will love it too!\n\n**⭐ Shakespeare Human Tic Tac Toe Review Game ~ newly added!**\n\nThis resource features a lesson plan and materials for the Human Tic Tac Toe Review Game, an engaging and competitive way to review Shakespeare and the Globe Theater. Let's face it, review days can be boring for both teachers and students, so liven them up with this collaborative game. The resource includes not only a meticulously detailed lesson plan and set-up instructions, but 30 questions on Shakespeare's life, works, and the Globe. Besides simple set-up, very little preparation is needed for this lesson and if your students are like mine, they will ask for this form of review for every unit of study.\n\n**⭐ William Shakespeare Quote Posters**\n\nMake your classroom pop with this set of 25 beautifully-made posters featuring quotes from William Shakespeare. Each 7.5 x 7.5 (square) PDF poster contains a noteworthy quote from one of the Bard's plays imposed over a stunning photograph that will spruce up your ELA classroom. The square format is reminiscent of Instagram and makes for an eye-catching arrangement on your wall or bulletin board. I suggest laminating the posters and using them not just during your Shakespeare unit, but all year long.\n\n⭐ Shakespeare's Epitaph Assignment ***- BONUS FILE!!***\n\nStudents get the chance to create the epitaph for the gravestone of the most revered writer of all time. The activity encourages students to be thoughtful with their knowledge of William Shakespeare but also to be creative with their inscriptions. This can be done in or outside of class and also works as a no-prep emergency substitute plan. To be festive, I love to give this assignment on the anniversary of Shakespeare's actual death, April 23, but with the subject at hand, it also works well as a Halloween lesson plan.\n\n**By purchasing these great resources as a bundle, you save over 20% off the cover price of all materials!**\n\n**\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_\\_**\n\n**Click to Follow Language Arts Excellence**\n",descriptionPlain:"\\*\\*Now with newly added material!\\*\\*\n\nThis resource features a growing bundle of all of our best-selling lesson plans, materials, and activities for your unit on Shakespeare. To be festive, I love to give this assignment on the anniversary of Shakespeare's actual death, April 23, but with the subject at hand, it also works well as a Halloween lesson plan.\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>By purchasing these great resources as a bundle, you save over 20% off the cover price of all materials!\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>___________________________________________________________________________\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>Click to Follow Language Arts Excellence\x3C/strong>",public:!0,price:"3425",displayPrice:"4250",grades:$R[638]=[""],userId:"a0de36b9-1fbb-443b-bc1e-d9debe19fe82",primaryImage:"https://ecdn.teacherspayteachers.com/thumbitem/Shakespeare-Resource-Bundle-3972680-1657535674/original-3972680-1.jpg",thumbnailImage:"https://ecdn.teacherspayteachers.com/thumbitem/Shakespeare-Resource-Bundle-3972680-1657535674/original-3972680-1.jpg",secondaryImages:$R[639]=[],isCollection:!0,createdAt:$R[640]=new Date("2024-10-28T18:31:42.961Z"),updatedAt:$R[641]=new Date("2024-10-28T18:31:42.961Z"),rating:null,ratingsCount:null,store:$R[642]={id:"0192bfc9-d82b-7528-9208-9ea79ab19d2c",name:"Language Arts Excellence",icon:"https://storage.googleapis.com/teachertoolai-editor.appspot.com/static/user_placeholder.png",slug:"languageartsexcellence"},gradesDisplay:"",subjects:$R[643]=[],resourceTypes:null,learningStandards:null,reviews:null},$R[644]={id:"01922bba-f674-7680-b4e9-c7a018350f72",slug:"Holiday-Toy-Trends-Mini-Research-Unit-64768107",title:"Holiday Toy Trends Mini Research Unit",description:"Every year there's that ONE holiday toy that captures the hearts of kids and sends parents off to the store to grab the last one. the fascinating intersection of science and history in this engaging lesson that combines the study of the endocrine system with ethical considerations of circus side shows. Students will learn about various endocrine disorders (such as gigantism, dwarfism, and hirsutism) and their physiological causes, using historical figures like Robert Wadlow (the \"Alton Giant\") and Annie Jones (the \"Bearded Lady\") as case studies. Through research, group presentations, and guided discussions, students will not only gain a deeper understanding of hormone imbalances and their impact on the body but also critically examine how these individuals were treated and exploited in the context of 19th and 20th-century circus performances. By the end of the lesson, students will reflect on how understanding these conditions can foster empathy and promote ethical healthcare practices.\x3Cbr>\x3Cstrong>Includes:\x3C/strong>\x3C/p>\x3Cul>\x3Cli>\x3Cp>Endocrine system overview and key glands\x3C/p>\x3C/li>\x3Cli>\x3Cp>Case study handouts of famous historical performers\x3C/p>\x3C/li>\x3Cli>\x3Cp>Group work with research and presentation guidelines\x3C/p>\x3C/li>\x3Cli>\x3Cp>Ethical discussion prompts and reflection questions\x3C/p>\x3C/li>\x3Cli>\x3Cp>Printable worksheets for case studies and ethical reflection\x3C/p>\x3C/li>\x3C/ul>\x3Cp>This lesson blends science with critical thinking and history, encouraging students to reflect on both the biological and social aspects of rare conditions. This is sure to be a lesson that you will use again and again on February 14th.\x3C/p>\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>⭐ Shakespeare's \"Death Lines\" Lesson Plan\x3C/strong>\x3C/p>\x3Cp>In this full-length lesson plan, students will closely examine the final lines of Shakespearean characters before their deaths (if you know Shakespeare, there are quite a few!). I invented the take on this game several years ago and it has become one of my students' and my favorite days of the whole school year. CTE Health Science Endocrine System Disorders / Ethics Science Behind Sideshows
By Scrub Squad
Explore the fascinating intersection of science and history in this engaging lesson that combines the study of the endocrine system with ethical considerations of circus side shows. Students will learn about various endocrine disorders (such as gigantism, dwarfism, and hirsutism) and their physiological causes, using historical figures like Robert Wadlow (the "Alton Giant") and Annie Jones (the "Bearded Lady") as case studies. Through research, group presentations, and guided discussions, students will not only gain a deeper understanding of hormone imbalances and their impact on the body but also critically examine how these individuals were treated and exploited in the context of 19th and 20th-century circus performances. By the end of the lesson, students will reflect on how understanding these conditions can foster empathy and promote ethical healthcare practices.
Includes:
Endocrine system overview and key glands
Case study handouts of famous historical performers
Group work with research and presentation guidelines
Ethical discussion prompts and reflection questions
Printable worksheets for case studies and ethical reflection
This lesson blends science with critical thinking and history, encouraging students to reflect on both the biological and social aspects of rare conditions. Perfect for introducing students to the complexities of endocrine disorders and the importance of empathy in healthcare.

Students: What I Think I Do - Week 1 Internet Activity
By Mark Holmes
I envisaged this to be a September week 1 internet activity. It will give students an opportunity to think about how other people perceive them. It could also be used as a lesson in how to search Google effectively or used as a dictionary / thesaurus activity, where students have to find descriptive words in order to search for appropriate pictures on Google Images.
These have been doing the rounds on FaceBook and email recently. You may have received posters / postcards entitled "Teachers...." or "Moms..." and then under the title are a series of photos with captions like;
What my friends think I do
What my mother thinks I do
What I think I do
What I really do
Each caption is accompanied by an image of what that person thinks about the other person or group of people.
The sample here is of the "Teacher..." postcard. This is NOT what I am selling. I am selling a similar template entitled, "Students..." It is laid out the same as the teacher one with the same titles (the word teacher has been replaced with student), however, the pictures are missing. Students must search Google Images for appropriate pictures that characterize themselves. The photo titles are as follows;
Students...
What my friends think I do
What my mother thinks I do
What society thinks I do
What my teachers think I do
What I think I do
What I really do
My students printed off the images and then cut them out and pasted them on.
Enjoy!!!!

Research & Build a House - Architectural Styles & Creators | Distance Learning
By Innovations in Technology
In this lesson, students learn more about architecture as they research the history of different architectural styles, and learn about the creators of those designs. The lesson starts with a whole class Microsoft PowerPoint presentation (editable) to view the styles and start discussion. Next, students choose one of the styles to research further and create a presentation with that information. Optionally, these may be presented to the class. In the next part of the assignment, they design a house of their own (to scale) in the style they researched using Sketchup (a free CAD program that can be downloaded at: https://www.sketchup.com/ or used as an online tool). After completing the drawing, students build a model of their house to scale using chipboard, cardboard or other materials. Finally, students answer questions to reflect on their learning for this unit.
This lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in upper elementary grades or high school as well.
This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.
Files included:
• Teacher & Student Resources
• Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation: Architectural Styles (editable)
• Researching an Architectural Style Project: Student Expectations, Instructions and Grading Rubric
• Designing a House in Sketchup: Student Expectations, Instructions and Grading Rubric
• Sketchup Tutorial (step-by-step instructions with screen shots)

**Now with newly added material!**
This resource features a growing bundle of all of our best-selling lesson plans, materials, and activities for your unit on Shakespeare. Resources perfectly complement any Shakespearean play and can be used to introduce the unit (like the Elizabethan Mini-Unit, Scavenger Hunt, and PowerPoint), throughout the unit (Bell Ringers, Sonnet Lesson Plan, and "Death Lines" Activity), as a review (Shakespeare Escape Room), and even to decorate your classroom (Quote Posters). Each product is thoughtfully crafted and inspires students to delve deeply into Shakespeare's life and works. Lessons have all been classroom-tested and allow for differentiation while encouraging optimal student engagement. You will not find tedious lists of comprehension questions and vocabulary words in this bundle; instead you will find materials that will make Shakespeare relevant in the eyes of your students and bring the Bard to life!
Included in this Bundle:
⭐ Elizabethan England Mini-Unit
This is a differentiated mini-unit on Elizabethan England to prepare students for studying Shakespeare's works! It can be used as an introduction to any of Shakespeare's plays. It begins with a day of research into Shakespeare's life and times, then asks students to create a group collage on their topic and ultimately perform a presentation of their findings.
⭐ Introduction to Shakespeare Powerpoint, Scavenger Hunt & Lesson Plan
This resource features everything you need to conduct the perfect introduction to William Shakespeare for your students. This lesson plan and accompanying materials can be used to introduce a unit on any of Shakespeare's plays.
⭐Shakespeare ESCAPE ROOM
There is no wonder why escape rooms are so popular; they are highly engaging and encourage people to work together and think creatively in order to solve different puzzles... all while trying to beat the clock! Your students will be having so much fun that they won’t even realize the higher order thinking skills they are applying in the playing of this game.
⭐ 25 Shakespeare Bell Ringer Journal Prompts
This resource features a set of 25 reader response journal prompts for use during your unit on Shakespeare. Each bell ringer is comprised of a Shakespearean quote from one of his plays or sonnets and a thoughtfully crafted question that encourages students to personally connect and appreciate the timelessness of his work. Prompts can be used as bell-ringers (most popular and mean the first 5 minutes of every class for more than a month are planned for you!), summarizers, stations, full class or small group discussion questions, for homework, sub plans, as a filler activity… the possibilities are endless!
⭐ Sonnet 130 Lesson Plan
In this creative and engaging lesson plan, students will analyze one of Shakespeare's most famous love sonnets about the notorious Dark Lady and create their own original poetry inspired by the Bard. This resource provides step-by-step instructions using a format of warm-up, explanation, application, and synthesis with the aim to engage students from beginning to end. A teacher cheat sheet is also included with full notes on Sonnet 130 so no preparation is needed.
⭐ Shakespeare Valentine's Day Lesson Plan
This full-length lesson plan revolves around Shakespeare's mastery of the English language with an emphasis on his knack for coming up with the most compassionate of compliments and scathing of insults. This is sure to be a lesson that you will use again and again on February 14th.
⭐ Shakespeare's "Death Lines" Lesson Plan
In this full-length lesson plan, students will closely examine the final lines of Shakespearean characters before their deaths (if you know Shakespeare, there are quite a few!). I am confident that your students will love it too!
⭐ Shakespeare Human Tic Tac Toe Review Game ~ newly added!
This resource features a lesson plan and materials for the Human Tic Tac Toe Review Game, an engaging and competitive way to review Shakespeare and the Globe Theater. Let's face it, review days can be boring for both teachers and students, so liven them up with this collaborative game. The resource includes not only a meticulously detailed lesson plan and set-up instructions, but 30 questions on Shakespeare's life, works, and the Globe. Besides simple set-up, very little preparation is needed for this lesson and if your students are like mine, they will ask for this form of review for every unit of study.
⭐ William Shakespeare Quote Posters
Make your classroom pop with this set of 25 beautifully-made posters featuring quotes from William Shakespeare. I suggest laminating the posters and using them not just during your Shakespeare unit, but all year long.
⭐ Shakespeare's Epitaph Assignment - BONUS FILE!!
Students get the chance to create the epitaph for the gravestone of the most revered writer of all time. The activity encourages students to be thoughtful with their knowledge of William Shakespeare but also to be creative with their inscriptions. This can be done in or outside of class and also works as a no-prep emergency substitute plan. To be festive, I love to give this assignment on the anniversary of Shakespeare's actual death, April 23, but with the subject at hand, it also works well as a Halloween lesson plan.
By purchasing these great resources as a bundle, you save over 20% off the cover price of all materials!

Holiday Toy Trends Mini Research Unit
By Three Little Homeschoolers
Every year there's that ONE holiday toy that captures the hearts of kids and sends parents off to the store to grab the last one. This mini unit covers the history of Christmas toys through four decades (some of which you will remember!). The unit is divided into three parts and relies heavily on student research. The parts can be done at your own pace over the course of a week or over several weeks.
Part One
-Includes two reading passages, one about the history of holiday gift giving and one about the rise of the toy industry.
-Research Project: Students are given four worksheets, one for each of the decades (1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s), and they must research toy trends for each decade
Part Two
-All of part two is in the included PowerPoint. This covers holiday advertising, starting with the early days of ads, through the department store catalog, and into modern television commercials.
-There are three links to toy commercials from the 70s, 80s, and 90s to watch with students
Part Three
-In part three, students will conduct an interview with an older friend or family member about their own holiday toy memories
-Final Project: Students pick one of three final projects to complete. Each project relates back to a different part of the unit.
This unit is geared towards a classroom, but is easily adapted to a homeschooler...in fact, I originally created it for mine! Every research activity is done solo and the PowerPoint can easily be used just for one or a handful of kiddos. This is also easily adaptable, in case you want to change anything for your students, but is no-prep, ready to go, as it is!
