I have used this in my class for 7 years and it has been a very successful learning tool. This can easily be modified the assignment to fit various topics. The project is divided into fourteen sections, including the front pages. Sections include Language/Population, Habitat/Geography, Family Structure, Government, and several others. Each section has a list of criteria and questions that must be answered to complete the section.

I would expect a single student to take about ten weeks, with a weekly goal (perhaps a little faster) of completing one section.

There is a score for each section and teacher info on ways to make it work.

The project contains a cover sheet, a teacher's page, two student pages and a sheet to help students select an appropriate civilization.

There is also a list of civilizations that have an abundance of information available on line.

This bundle contains five close reading activities about the Stone Age, key periods and the prehistoric site of Stonehenge; a timeline display or sorting activity; two informational writing units about Stonehenge and the Stone Ages; and an opinion writing unit discussing which era was the most important.

Firstly, there are five reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about:

• Stone Ages Overview
• Paleolithic Era
• Mesolithic Era
• Neolithic Era
• Stonehenge

These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have a teacher presentation, an extension activity, a multiple choice quiz, a crossword and a wordsearch. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.

Then, there are two informational writing units about the Stone Age and Stonehenge. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Also, there is an opinion writing unit about which was the most important era from the Stone Age: the Paleolithic Era, the Mesolithic Era or the Neolithic Era. This unit has again been split into three or four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Finally, there is a Stone Ages Timeline Activity and Display. It is perfect for introducing students to the some of the key events and advancements from the period. There are 33 posters or task cards.

In this lesson, students learn more about famous structures and landmarks in Dallas, Texas and the individuals who created them. Students choose the landmarks they will research and then create a presentation using Google Earth to showcase their information along with pictures, videos and maps. Included with the lesson are student expectations, grading rubric and a tutorial for Google Earth (a free, Web 2.0 tool that does not require download). For classrooms with limited technology, this lesson can be completed with students working in pairs or small groups.
