Real-Life Math fun!RSA Encryption Distributiv Property Exten Euclidean Algorithm
By Daniel
A very interesting piece of the Real-Life Math puzzle that is the ultimate activity!
The Distributive Property and Multiplying Positive and Negative Integers and Variable Expressions are part and parcel of any Pre-Algebra course. These skills are very important when doing the Extended Euclidean Algorithm - if you make sign mistakes, you will be frustrated and you will have to do things over. The value of carefully writing out your mathematics is really illustrated with the Extended Euclidean Algorithm.
This product includes a FREE classroom poster, a FREE Google Form quiz (and a FREE PDF-version of the quiz) and a FREE key to the task.
The task, (with key), will involve...
Determining the GCD and expressing this GCD as a linear combination of the two integers.
Doing the distributive property over and over until you are very fluent with it.
Multiplying positive and negative integers faultlessly.
The extended Euclidean Algorithm is a central part of the RSA Public Key Cryptosystem and mathematicians, programmers and students who encrypt data will use it all the time.
It is important that students know (and that teachers always remind them) when they are busy with these topics, that they are learning fundamental mathematics needed to encrypt data and secret messages.
