This rubric looks at 6 different areas when students are being assessed on writing a personal narrative. The areas that are reviewed on the rubric are as follows: the order of events when writing a personal narrative, grabbing the reader's attention in the beginning of the narrative, the ending, staying on task, grammar/punctuation/spelling, and working with others. This rubric scores the personal narrative writing assignment out of 18 possible points. The rating scale use is a 3, 2, 1, & 0.

Students get the chance to create the epitaph for the gravestone of one of the most revered authors in American literature. Writing an informational paragraph is an important writing project that gives students time to conduct research on a specific topic that is of interest to them. It sets the foundation for having students write an informational essay. Once they are finished with their masterpiece, they can share it with their friends and family members. This packet includes information to share with your students about what informational writing is, why we complete informational writing tasks, what steps to follow when writing the topic sentence, supporting sentences, and conclusion, how to make our writing flow so that it makes sense to the reader, and tips to look for when rereading and editing. Writing a play is a perfect project that gives students time to write about an event that happened in their life or an event that they made up. Once they are finished, they can share it with different groups of people and have their friends play each character. This packet includes information to share with your students about what a play is, examples of plays they may see, what steps to follow when writing the beginning, middle and end of a play, and identifying the parts of a play. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write a play using a brainstorming play chart. An example of the play chart and template is also included. On the last several pages, templates are included to help students write the rough draft and final draft of their play that includes space for characters, scenes, stage directions, and lines to show what their characters are saying.

Students will be provided with a research project ideas list and a KWL chart in the beginning of the product. Students will then be provided with template cards that ask students to share why they chose the topic, what students want to learn about their topic before they begin researching, important facts they learned about their topic (with different color templates), what students learned about their topic that shocked them, what did students think about their topic before they researched it, and two sources templates are included (one to share 2 sources and another to share 3 sources).
