Writing a play is a perfect project that gives students time to write about an event that happened in their life or an event that they made up. Once they are finished, they can share it with different groups of people and have their friends play each character. This packet includes information to share with your students about what a play is, examples of plays they may see, what steps to follow when writing the beginning, middle and end of a play, and identifying the parts of a play. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write a play using a brainstorming play chart. An example of the play chart and template is also included. This rubric looks at 5 different areas when students are being assessed on writing a play. The areas that are reviewed on the rubric are as follows: the topic and meaning/purpose relate, what's included in the play - characters, props, scenes, stage, directions, dialogue, and scenes, staying on task, grammar/punctuation/spelling, and working with others. This rubric scores the play writing assignment out of 15 possible points. The rating scale use is a 3, 2, 1, & 0.

Writing to Solve a Problem Example and Template

Writing about How to Solve a Problem is an important writing project that gives students the time to write about a problem they had to solve or are currently trying to solve. This product sets the foundation for having students learn about simple and advanced problem solving skills that so many students. Once they are finished with their masterpiece, they can share it with their friends and family members. This packet includes information to share with your students about why we write to solve a problem, what steps to follow when writing to solve a problem - state the problem, ask questions, come up with a list of resources, summarize the actions taken to solve the problem, and a solution which shares the decision that was made to solve the problem. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write to solve a problem. Using this guide, students will write and complete a simple or complex written assignment about how to solve a problem. An example of a completed graphic organizer, an example of written assignment that shows how to write to solve a problem, graphic organizer template, and two rough draft /final draft templates are included with this packet as well.
