Project ELA Reading Assessment Activity - Smash Doodles with Rubric

I love using this at the end of the year to demonstrate that a student can read independently and show what they know. Plus, it's easy to grade! Also, a great resource for homeschooling at any age. Deaf Education - ASL and English Verbs Vocabulary and Sentences Review

In this product, students will learn the sign and English vocabulary word for the 110 different vocabulary words presented that relate with verbs.
This product can be used with students who are learning English and sign language. It can serve as an in class practice, review, or quiz.
In the first section of the product, students will learn the English word, the sign of each verb vocabulary item, and the verb will be used in a sentence. Students will be able to write the name of the item in their native language.
In the second section of the product, there is a dictionary provided that includes the English word, the sign, and a picture showing each verb presented.
In the third section of the product, students can review what they learned based on the sign, sentence, and picture that are included for each word provided. Students will then be required to write the English word on each line.
A picture is also included to represent each verb vocabulary word. At the end of this section, students will have the opportunity to choose 20 verbs and make up a sentence using each one.
In the fourth section of the product, students can review what they learned based on the sign and picture that are included for each word provided. Students will then be required to make up a sentence using the verb presented in English.
In the fifth section of the product, students can review what they learned based on the sign and picture that are included for each word provided. Students will then be required to make up a sentence using the verb presented in their native language.

Lesson Plan on An Inspector Calls

A thorough lesson plan on the well-known drama "An Inspector Calls" by J.D. Priestley. The play's action takes place in an industrial city in England, where a young girl kills herself and a well-known British family is routinely investigated in relation to the death. All of the family members are either directly or indirectly implicated in the girl's downfall. As a result, an inspector calls to investigate the family. Before the evening is done, the close-knit and amiable family is revealed to be cowardly, selfish, or self-centered, its good humor turning to sour, and its pleasant fellowship to despised.
Every step of the 90-minute lesson is included in the lesson plan. It includes the 'An Inspector Calls || 7 Minute Summary' YouTube video from the Easy as GCSE channel. A student worksheet that may be printed has a lot of activities and answers at the end.

Guided Conversations:
Guided Convos provide a scenario about a familiar topic and an outline for students to use to keep the conversation going. Students work with a partner and choose the role of Person A or Person B. They can trade roles, trade partners, or even do the same exact conversation again! They never turn out the same way! Students report feeling much more confident and able to keep conversations going after practicing a few times!
These conversations have 2 different versions for Novice High students and 2 different versions for Intermediate Low students.
Integrated Listening & Speaking:
ILS activities are done alone. Students will listen to a recording, and be given instructions for how to respond. They might hear: “Tell me about….” Or “Ask me questions about…” . These activities mimic the speaking/listening portion of many popular Seal of Biliteracy Tests.
There is a pre-made student activity that requires no language lab! If you have a language lab or some other kind of recording software, the teacher script will allow you to record the audio for students if you desire.
There are 2 activities in this resource, each with 5 prompts. They are designed so that the first activity is a bit easier and the 2nd one a bit more challenging. Use with different levels or at the beginning and end of a unit!
✍️Scenario Task Cards:
Scenario Task Cards are my go-to for lots of things! I display one at the beginning of every class and ask students to take turns talking about the scenario. But I also use them as a lesson plan for a class activity! I have students change partners and have them tell a story about 5 times in a row, each time with a new scenario and a new partner. Then students switch roles. Listeners become the speakers. Finally, sometimes I print the scenarios and ask students to write about them in class or for homework!

INSTRUCTIONS:
Fact or Fiction?
- cards number 1 - 20 that can be used as a lead-in activity with the whole class - great for reinforcing the notion, that zero conditionals are used to express FACTS
- the teacher or children read the zero conditional sentence, the students then decide whether the statement is true or false
- you can turn it into a web quest by asking your students to research the false statements on the internet
- these cards can also be used in the Kaboom! game or Scoot game
Kaboom! Game
- print out and cut up the numbered sentence cards and Kaboom! cards, laminate (optional)
- put them in a receptacle of your choice
- decide on how long you want to spend on this activity and set a timer
- pupils take turns pulling out a card and finishing or making a sentence using cues and picture prompts
- if they say it right, they get to keep the card
- if they get it wrong, they put it back
- the next pupil takes a turn
- if they pull out a Kaboom! card, they put all their cards back, feel free to use as many (or as few) Kaboom! card as you wish
- pupil with the most cards at the end wins
Scoot Game
- use the numbered sentence cards, each student gets a recording sheet
- place one card on each student's desk. If you have fewer students than cards, feel free to not use the whole deck.
- plan a route, make sure your students understand which way they are supposed to move
- start the game by having each pupil write the answer to their card on their answer sheet
- when students are finished, call out "SCOOT" and they move to their neighbour's desk where they write the answer to the card on that desk
- call out "SCOOT" again, students move again, continue until students have answered all the cards
- answer sheets can be corrected with the whole group, in pairs or collected for a later correction

*In the upper left corner there's a spot for you to punch holes in the cards so that you can then attach them with a ring for no prep use every time. Be sure to laminate if at all possible.
Object of the game:
One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Beginner students should be allowed to use the TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

ESL Family Vocabulary Book for Newcomers

In this product, students will learn the English vocabulary word for the different family members. Students will initially write each vocabulary word in their native language and after learning the English word, students will complete the family vocabulary review where they will be required to fill in the English and their native language family member vocabulary word. I tend to use that section as a quiz. I will read the word aloud and the students will then write the English word and the word in their native language. Pictures are included for each vocabulary word to help students make connections to who each person is. Students can do this independently or with help. Students will be required to answer a few comprehension questions that relate with who their family members are, what they like to do with them, etc.
