Make learning English fun with this simple, comprehensible input English lesson plan and story. This lesson plan includes a story with targeted structures that can be repeated to give your students lots of repetitions. Comprehension activities to use after the story will allow you to engage your students and make sure that your English lesson is truly comprehensible input.

Mark is a squirrel, and he's hungry. And while his refrigerator is full, it doesn't have his favorite food - bread! How can he fill his stomach? Can his friends help him? There are four targeted vocabulary structures that are used multiple times throughout the story. The targeted structures are:

• is hungry
• some bread
• he looks for
• there is only

This very simple story is told in two different ways. There is a printable text version, and an animated mp4 version. Tell the story as you watch it (pause if you want to stop and discuss or storyask!), or just watch it for comprehension. The video is just over 5 minutes long, with pause time for students to read the text. There is a second version of the video with only the illustrations - no text - so you can watch it and do story retells. With novice low and novice mid learners, you can tell the story as is. For novice high learners, you can add more details or write a parallel story. You could even use this story at higher levels by having students retell the story in the past.

The scavenger hunt is designed so that students have to revisit and reread the reading passages multiple times when looking for code words. Smash Doodles are a great way to assess reading while encouraging creativity, whether in ELA or ELL. I love using this at the end of the year to demonstrate that a student can read independently and show what they know. Plus, it's easy to grade! Also, a great resource for homeschooling at any age. New Year's vocabulary - 30 New Year's speaking prompt cards in English

These Spanish Scenario Task Cards are designed to increase skill and confidence with creative speaking and writing!  Scenario Task Cards are a great, NO PREP way to get your Spanish 2, 3 and 4 and even AP Spanish students speaking or writing every day! They have open-ended prompts for students to use to tell a story orally or on paper.   (These are generic enough to be used with any curriculum!)  

First, this bundle includes 17 different themes!  Consider your daily warm-up for the year DONE with no prep!

There are 20 different scenarios per theme which give students an idea of what to talk about in a story that they make up. Each set of scenario cards come in 3 versions!  First,  a large scale digital version that can be displayed for the class.  (Perfect for a warm-up!) The other version is printable (4 cards per page) and comes in both black and white and an attractive color version. 

Some cards provide helpful vocab that students may need to discuss the scenario. Some sets come with a vocab list that can be printed (maybe laminated) so that students can integrate related vocabulary that they may not know already.

These situation task cards feature scenarios perfect for practicing talking about many of the life events that are common to teens, and common to most Spanish curriculum and Seal of Biliteracy tests.   The prompts ask students to talk about themselves and others in present, past and future time frames.  The prompts are in English. Here's the twist: The possible responses start disappearing after time. Incorrect answers lose points and correct answers earn points. Make learning English fun with this simple, comprehensible input English lesson plan and story. This lesson plan includes a story with targeted structures that can be repeated to give your students lots of repetitions. Comprehension activities to use after the story will allow you to engage your students and make sure that your English lesson is truly comprehensible input.

Andy wants to find the perfect gift for his mother's birthday. But somehow, his gifts don't work out. Can he find the right gift to show his love for her, or will she be disappointed? There are three targeted vocabulary structures that are used multiple times throughout the story. The targeted structures are:

• the perfect gift
• he wants to give her
• in his pocket

This very simple story is told in two different ways. There is a printable text version, and an animated mp4 version. Tell the story as you watch it (pause if you want to stop and discuss or storyask!), or just watch it for comprehension. The video is just over 5 minutes long, with pause time for students to read the text. There is a second version of the video with only the illustrations - no text - so you can watch it and do story retells. With novice low and novice mid learners, you can tell the story as is. For novice high learners, you can add more details or write a parallel story. You could even use this story at higher levels by having students retell the story in the past.

Make your ESL classroom look different from a regular education room by Considering these multilingual animals and colors labels!

Each label takes up 1/4 of a page so they are nice and big, but not too obtrusive. There are 55 words for a total of 14 pages. Check out the preview of the first 4. They each feature the English word in big, bold black letters while the other languages are in a smaller font and in different colors. Task cards to practice Present Perfect - BEEN and GONE. Use them to play Kaboom Game or Scoot, they are great for Centers, Quiz Games, can be used as Bell Ringers. Low prep, just print out and cut up.

Contains:

• 30 task cards - they double up as Kaboom! sentence cards and Scoot cards
• 15 Kaboom! cards
• 2 answer sheets for Scoot
• 12 sentence dominoes
• instructions
• keys

INSTRUCTIONS:

Kaboom! Game

• print out and cut up the cards, laminate (optional)
• put them in a receptacle of your choice
• decide on how long you want to spend on this activity and set a timer
• pupils take turns pulling out a card and finishing the sentence - they need to select the correct option or make a sentence using cues
• if they say it right, they get to keep the card
• if they get it wrong, they put it back
• the next pupil takes a turn
• if they pull out a Kaboom! card, they put all their cards back, feel free to use as many (or as few) Kaboom! card as you wish
• pupil with the most cards at the end wins

Scoot Game

• use the numbered Kaboom! sentence cards, each student gets a recording sheet
• place one card on each student's desk. If you have fewer students than cards, feel free to not use the whole deck.
• plan a route, make sure your students understand which way they are supposed to move
• start the game by having each pupil write the answer to their card on their answer sheet
• when students are finished, call out "SCOOT" and they move to their neighbour's desk where they write the answer to the card on that desk
• call out "SCOOT" again, students move again, continue until students have answered all the cards
• answer sheets can be corrected with the whole group, in pairs or collected for a later correction

Sentence Domino

• print out and cut up, laminate (optional)
• to be used in pairs or small groups - print out a few copies
• pupils look for pairs - BEEN / GONE sentences with the corresponding clue sentences - which they place next to each other creating a line of matching cards
