11th Grade Geography Assessment

Using Exit Cards is an effective way to evaluate the progress each student. These can be used as Entrance or Exit cards depending on how it works best for you and your students. Which card is shared first, Entrance or Exit, is up to the teacher. The order is not dependent. Entrance cards are used for the purpose of helping students synthesize their learning. However, they can also be used as a formative assessment tool for the next day or week’s lesson. Teachers may place a prompt on the Entrance Card and provide time for students to think about their learning. This set includes 29 Exit Cards that can be used for any Social Studies lesson.

Includes a set of 10 questions with separate answer key. Written at a 9th grade level.

Includes 1 set for each of the 8 episodes of season 1 and 7 episodes of season 2 of Blue Planet. Total 15 sets.

❖ ESL - ELL Taboo Game, Countries and Cities ❖

Playing TABOO in English is a great way to get ESL students to speak English and learn a lot of new vocabulary. This game focuses on different cities and countries around the world. It is simple to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. Advanced students try to get teammates to guess the word at the top of the card without saying any of the "taboo" words listed below. Beginner students can still play, but they should be allowed to use the "taboo" words to help learn new vocabulary and build sentences in English.

This ESL Taboo game includes the following:

40 Taboo game cards to print, cut out and laminate if possible

Color and black and white versions included

How to play

Object of the game:

One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Beginner students should be allowed to use the TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

This allows students to collaborate to discuss and come to a conclusion on the answer. Students will not be left on their own but will have the opportunity to learn from their classmates. This lesson also incorporates movement in the classroom rather than asking them to remain in their seats for the hour-long or more class period.

This is a fun way to have students learn the process of how a Bill becomes a Law. Students will work together with their teams to complete the group reading assignment, then students will move on to the instruction sheet that gives them the steps they need to take to complete the hexagon puzzle showing the law-making process. A culminating activity for students to work in groups to revisit what they learned throughout the year. Students will be able to see what they have accomplished and how much they have learned while having fun with their classmates through this game. This is designed for an end-of-year activity; however, the concept can be used every grading period (6-weeks, 4 quarters, semesters, etc) for review. Students will work in groups to recall as much geographical information as they can from the year and will be given the opportunity to win points by fact-checking and challenging others' facts.
