This fun geography skill activity is great for your students on Valentine's Day! We all know how students get excited on Valentine's Day! Through this activity, not only will they have fun working together or individually to solve the puzzle, but they will also have the opportunity to practice reading absolute location —latitude and longitude — coordinate grid system. Each moment is a teaching moment, and this will allow reinforcement of their map reading skills. They will use the absolute locations that are provided on the key and identify the points on the coordinate grid, drawing one line from one point to another. End the end, they have a photo to color and decorate!

Use this Reading Response Assignment and Battle Royale style activity to teach about Bushcraft and Primitive Survival Techniques while reinforcing simple geographical knowledge about world geography and the basic biomes of the world. Any fan of fortnite or other battle royale style video games will love this assignment! But even the students who don't play fortnite will enjoy making their battle royale survival plan.

I normally use this assignment during my Ancient History unit on early humans as a way to help students understand the hardship of surviving without modern technology. I've also used it directly after my unit on the Fall of Rome when we discuss the collapse of civilization before diving into Feudalism in Europe.

Really this assignment is a plug and play that you can use in many different class periods. Thinking tactically about survival never goes out of style, and students are always engaged during this assignment. I've also used it as a last minute sub plan and have never gotten a bad note!

❖ ESL - ELL Taboo Game, Countries and Cities ❖

Playing TABOO in English is a great way to get ESL students to speak English and learn a lot of new vocabulary. This game focuses on different cities and countries around the world. It is simple to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. Advanced students try to get teammates to guess the word at the top of the card without saying any of the "taboo" words listed below. Beginner students can still play, but they should be allowed to use the "taboo" words to help learn new vocabulary and build sentences in English.

This ESL Taboo game includes the following:

40 Taboo game cards to print, cut out and laminate if possible

Color and black and white versions included

How to play

Object of the game:

One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Beginner students should be allowed to use the TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

With more than 750 million inhabitants, Europe is the third most populated continent in the world while being the second smallest, after Australia. It is largely located in the Eastern Hemisphere and all of it is in the Northern Hemisphere.

Africa and Asia share the continent of Europe, which is referred to as Afro-Eurasia. Approximately 10.53 million square kilometers (4.06 million square miles) make up the continent of Europe. The Atlantic Ocean borders Europe to the west, and the Arctic Ocean borders Europe to the north. Where magma volcanoes form, how pieces of the Earth's surface move slowly, what is the lithosphere and where it is located, where tectonic plates are located in the structure of the Earth, tectonic plates and the three boundaries and how they are different from one another - divergent, transform, and convergent boundaries, students will also learn about Mount St. Helens eruption on May 18th, 1980, students will also learn safety tips and how to prepare for a volcanic eruption, students will analyze two charts: how volcanoes are measured using the Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI) and some volcanic eruptions in the 21st century, and students will choose a volcano to research and will answer questions after conducting research about a volcano in the packet provided at the end of the product.

Throughout the product, students will answer comprehension questions, true/false questions, multiple choice questions, will label diagrams to ensure comprehension as they are learning about volcanoes.

Brain breaks can be used as transitions, breaks in the middle of an activity, something to raise or lower the energy of the group, team-building activities, and more! It is helpful to use these before fatigue, boredom, distraction, and inattention set in!

Research has indicated that brain breaks can help improve self-efficiency in the learning process. They also improve short-term memory, self-awareness, and the learners' knowledge.
