The vocabulary used on the cards is French numbers from zero to thirty nine, not in numerical order. Just print and go with this French board game, worksheet, crossword, and sudoku activity to conjugate the irregular stem verb courir in the futur simple. The board game includes 37 numbered boxes. The first player to reach box 37 wins. No prep for you! Take a look at the preview for full details on everything that is included, and save with the bundle!

Board Game: Some boxes require students to conjugate the verb using the provided subject pronoun, and others require them to name the subject pronoun that matches the verb conjugation. Lots of repetition will really help them to memorize the French verb courir in the futur simple. There are a few fun tricks along the way, so getting to the end isn’t always so easy.

In groups of two to four, players take turns rolling a die to move their pieces forward. Spaces are numbered to keep track of which way they’re moving. There are some spaces with special instructions:

• Départ - Start
• Avance de 5 cases - Move forward 5 spaces
• Recule de 5 cases - Move backward 5 spaces
• Rejoue - Play again
• Tu perds ton tour - Lose a turn
• Fin - End

For an extra challenge and to extend playing time, you can tell your students that they have to land directly on the last square and answer it correctly to win. 

Worksheet: One page worksheet - Half of the page requires students to fill in subject pronouns, and the other half requires them to conjugate the verb. This is a great way to prep for the board game!

Crossword: One more excellent way to review this irregular stem in the futur simple.

Sudoku puzzle: Your students will review this irregular verb stem and exercise their brains in a different way with a sudoku puzzle!

Bell Ringers - Daily Journals for French class.

1. Day 1:  Show them the presentation and model for them.

2. Day 2: 

3. Print, copy, and have them ready for students as they walk in.

4. Saving on paper? Copy machine never works? Download the slide as a png and have students write on them on a touchscreen device or their own papers. My students use the app Chrome Canvas on their Chromebooks. I loan styluses to students during class. They aren’t too expensive. Some students just write with their fingers.

5. Day 2: Discuss the responses as a class. If you need to repeat Day 1 for the talking part for a few days, that’s okay. They will get it.

6. Days 3-5: Continue discussing responses after the journal each day. This will help them with writing and speaking.

7. Days 6 and on (or when you know they are ready): When used consistently, students will be able to speak with the phrases very quickly. Have them sit in groups and discuss their journals as you walk around the room. I often keep track of points on Class Dojo and give them a goal to shoot for.

8. Scaffold so that students will be able to talk without the journal eventually.

9. Use the words and phrases that they have learned in other activities.

10. Add the questions and answers to write stories as a class or individually. I tell students to include the day, date, weather, etc in all of their stories.

11. Ask students what another student said work on other perspectives, i.e. I, you, he, she, etc. 

12. Student A: C’est mercredi.

13. Student B: Elle dit, «C’est mercredi.»

McDonald's is a familiar place for many travelers visiting France. But it's not identical to the American version. Read about the differences between them and what allowed McDonald's to succeed in the land of gourmet food and 5-course meals - while Burger King failed.

I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words written on the chart. One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word. The game of 20 questions is a fun and effective way to practice forming French questions and in these 5 versions of the game, students will learn over 250 nouns that go beyond what they learn from a textbook chapter theme or every day classroom vocabulary.

5 versions with vocabulary written in French only

I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words. After they've played the games a few times looking at the French-English version they feel more prepared to move on to the French only version.

One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word.
