These gameboards are "closed" gameboards. You can make these work in your favor by setting up the guidelines ahead of time. Or, you can state that the games are over after a player has made 5 rounds, or however you choose.

French Decodable activities that align with the Science of Reading in the K-2 French classroom. Students work on their phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, decoding and encoding skills and as they master the target sound. Make a few copies of each card and insert into clear pockets to create a quick and easy reading centre; arrange a table with four copies to create a quiet reading group; use one-on-one with your students to assess reading levels, to gain insights to their decoding skills, encoding skills, and to inform your upcoming lesson plans. Students use whiteboard markers to sound out each sound in the word, each syllable, or each word in the sentence. What a great way to build confidence! Whatever way you choose to use this resource, I am so grateful that you have given this item a try!

Science of Reading:

These sentence strips are aligned with sounds being taught in any Science of Reading aligned curriculum. They are set up for student success based on the research for increasing reading fluency and building student confidence in the classroom!

Once you have established the strategies for identifying sounds, initial sounds, and blending sounds, segmenting sounds, students will be able to use these self-driven sentence strips on their own. What a great way to build learning autonomy!

Who can use this resource:

Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple sentence strips to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.

Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in reading and confidence in reading strategies.

Sentences are designed to build a number of common French sounds and get more challenging as they go on.

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.

Popcorn Pathway is a fun way to help students practice CVC words with the short O sound. This is a perfect game for small group stations or to play during free time. Directions are included, but you are encouraged to change up the rules to according to your students' needs.

Introducing Multisyllabic Word Bingo – an engaging activity for students to practice decoding and word recognition with multisyllabic words! These games are designed to help students develop their skills decoding six different types of multisyllabic words:

• Words with inflectional endings (-es, -ed, and -ing)
• Compound words with closed syllables (snapshot, gumdrop)
• Closed/closed two-syllable words (dentist, habit)
• Open/closed two-syllable words (robot, tripod)
• Words with consonant le syllables (cuddle, rattle)
• Words with ending y (fry, sly, bumpy, copy)

Each of the 30 unique Bingo cards contains 24 randomly selected two-syllable words. 60 matching calling cards are included. The 24 words are chosen from a list of 60 words, so each Bingo card has a unique combination. Bingos should be frequent but not every word appears on every card.

Students will blend the words multiple times throughout the game facilitating orthographic mapping!

This theme is so farm with little learners and there is SO many activities that you can do with them to go along with it. I have created some fun farm themed activity puzzles to go along with your farm theme. There are Letter matching puzzles, number matching puzzles and shape matching puzzles included in this package. Below I have given more information on each set.

What’s Included In This Package:

Capital & lowercase letters A-z

(With a visual picture your students can put together for each letter of the alphabet)

Each separate puzzle has an Uppercase letter on one side as well as a lowercase letter on the other side. Cut each puzzle out and then cut through the curvy line in the middle of the puzzle to separate the letters. Laminate these activity cards and then lay them out on the table for your students to match and complete each puzzle. This is a great hands-on learning activity for your little’s to practice matching Uppercase and lowercase letters together.

Numbers 1-10

On one side of these number puzzles is a farmer as well as a number 1-10. On the other side of the puzzle is the number of seeds to match each numerical number. Cut these puzzles out and just like before cut through the curvy line in the middle of the puzzle to separate the farmer and the seeds. After you laminate them your students can practice number recognition as well as one-to-one correspondence and counting while completing these puzzles.

Shape Puzzles:

These shapes are on a barn to continue going with our farmer theme. Just like the number and alphabet puzzles print these out, cut through the curvy line in the middle and laminate them as well. Once that is done your students can practice saying and matching shapes together.

Short E Word CVC Cards

Why real pictures?

Help students make connections to the world around them. When we provide materials and resources with real pictures versus drawing and clip-art, there leaves little to no room for error.

While clip-art and illustrations can be fun and useful, they have a place. Allow your students to view real life pictures to reference and to help make connections!

There is no mistaking what these images depict making it easier for our young learners to decode the CVC words!
