DIRECTIONS FOR USE

WORKSHEETS

No-Prep, just print and go. You can use just the cut and paste pages or also pass out the additional sentence writing page that matches. The second page can also be used for early finishers. The ABC cut and paste worksheet has the alphabet listed as a reference. The sentences page has an editing checklist on it.

LITERACY CENTER

Cut apart the 26 picture/word cards and place in center. Print one or both recording sheets and place in center. Students choose 6 picture/word cards, copy those 6 words onto their cut and paste sheet, then complete their worksheet. If you place the second worksheet at the station, then students will choose 4 of their words to practice writing sentences with.

Every April, students can celebrate Tell-a-Story Day, which occurs at the end of the month. This 16 page handout will help students with organizing and telling fact-based stories. Looking for a fun and easy Halloween review game? CVC mixed grid mystery puzzles are a quick and easy way for students to review CVC words this October! Students will practice short vowel CVC words, beginning sounds, and rhyming words in this fun and interactive puzzle set.

Frog and Toad Are Friends poke cards are a great independent, partner or guided reading group comprehension activity. Frog and Toad Are Friends is a just right beginning chapter book for my second grade students. Students in my small groups quickly make connections to the characters and their unique friendship. The poke cards are self checking. After reading each chapter, students will answer each question by selecting one of three choices. Using a pencil, straw, or pipe cleaner, students will poke through the hole to choose their answer. The correct answer will have a mark above or around the hole. The poking process quickly engages the students and provides immediate feedback to them. Cards have chapter titles on them for ease of organization. Teacher Preparation: -Print on card stock for durability. -Using a hole punch, at each * punch a hole. -Identify the correct answer and draw a circle around the hole or mark an X above the hole. -Laminate for durability.
