Simply cut and laminate the cards. The cards can then be used at a listening, science, or STEM center! There is a worksheet for students to keep track of and rate the stories they listen to. There are also three differentiated reading response sheets.

Frog and Toad Are Friends is a just right beginning chapter book for my second grade students. Students in my small groups quickly make connections to the characters and their unique friendship. The poke cards are self checking. After reading each chapter, students will answer each question by selecting one of three choices. Using a pencil, straw, or pipe cleaner, students will poke through the hole to choose their answer. The correct answer will have a mark above or around the hole. The poking process quickly engages the students and provides immediate feedback to them. Cards have chapter titles on them for ease of organization.
