Colorful Semantics is a structured language intervention designed to support the development of language and communication skills, particularly in children with speech and language difficulties. This resource includes jigsaw cards for children to match together the correct color coded sentence with picture.
Why do you need this?
Colorful Semantics uses color coded cards to help children to learn the important elements of a sentence and how to join them together in the correct order. By visually representing each part of the sentence with a specific color, learners can better understand the structure and meaning of sentences, as well as the relationships between words.
How and when might you use this?
This approach is often implemented through a variety of interactive and hands-on activities, such as sentence building games, storytelling, and picture-based exercises. It can be tailored to the individual needs and abilities of learners, making it suitable for use in both classroom settings and speech and language clinics.

This was created in order to help Speech Language Pathologists target initial /l/, final /l/, and medial /l/ at the word, sentence, and conversational level. This is a great resource to encourage generalization and carryover of sounds in speech for the phonological process of gliding and for myofunctional disorders. We know that "l" can be a very difficult sound, so let's make it fun to practice. Research shows that children learn much quicker while engaged in play. This is the perfect game to help our students produce their sounds more quickly.
This is a great resource to use when children are stuck at the word level of a sound. Students will be very motivated to produce their sounds in these silly sentences.
Included in this resource:
- 12 initial /l/ task card question prompts with the following words: laundry, lizard, lime, lemonade, lion, leaf, lightning, lamb, ladder, loaf, lock, ladybug, log, light, leash

Are you looking for an introduction lesson for teaching main idea? Are your students struggling with main idea and supporting details or just Listening skills in general? The secret to getting the main idea is to teach the student to identify the topic, and then teach the student to identify what the purpose of the narrative was (Entertain/ Inform/ Persuade/ Instruct).
This is A 36 card/slide Lesson with 36 multiple choice prompts and 36 open-ended prompts which allow you to determine if the student can grasp the main idea. Narratives get progressively more complex as the student moves through the cards. A 4 page PDF assessment in included.
The cards work well with any students grades 6-10 or best when used with students who have mild cognitive delays yet basic language skills. An independent lesson will take about 30 minutes however if you are using it as a teaching tool during instruction the lesson can easily fill 60 minutes with breaks in between for group discussion.

Many of our students with learning and attention issues have difficulty reading body language. Failure to pick up on non-verbal signals, including body language and gestures, can make it hard for students or children to navigate all sorts of social situations. Body language and gestures convey messages, meaning, and important information beyond what is said. This resource is intended to help students "read" body language and navigate social situations successfully. It is also intended to provide students with opportunities to practice social skills by reading and responding to people’s body languages and gestures in an appropriate, positive manner.

The Scenario Task Cards contain highly relevant scenarios related to body language. Students are asked what the person's body language is communicating and what it indicates the person might be feeling.

► Picture Worksheet Variation #1: Contains two questions about the message the person’s body language is sending, and how the person is feeling. In this worksheet, students have to provide evidence to support their answer about how the person in the picture might be feeling.
► Picture Worksheet Variation #2: A blank space is provided for you to generate your own question and students write it on the line and answer it.
This resource provides a perfect opportunity for your students to understand social cues, interpret body language, practice social skills, and make inferences. This resource features real life scenarios and highly relevant photographs of people. Students with autism spectrum disorders often have the most difficult time with these skills and can benefit greatly from the visuals.
SUGGESTIONS FOR USE:
How/When To Use Scenario Task Cards
- Role-Playing: Students can collaborate in pairs or groups to act out a variety of scenarios and demonstrate appropriate responses. Role-playing activities can also be used to show how "response" skills are used improperly and then asking the 'audience' to help reenact properly. This activity can ultimately improve confidence, communication, and assertiveness skills and further help students understand the difference between appropriate and inappropriate responses to people's body language and gestures.
- Play Writing Exercise: Students can work in groups to create skits or scenes related to body language then perform the skit for the class.
- Writing Response: Students can be given a scenario to read and then write their responses. Students can switch papers with a partner who then reads their responses and determines whether they agree/disagree with their responses/approaches to these real-life scenarios.
- Discussion: Students can discuss the Body Language / Non-verbal Communication Scenario Task Cards in groups or whole class. They can discuss things like “What would you do?”, “Why would you do that?”, and “What are some other options you could consider?”

Make speech therapy engaging and festive with this Thanksgiving Craft Speech Therapy activity! This fun Turkey Craft combines language practice with creativity, perfect for classroom or therapy sessions. Designed as a versatile Craftivity, students will enjoy creating their turkey while working on essential speech sounds like /s/ and more.
Instructions for Teachers:
Preparation:
Print the turkey template with blank or labeled feathers.
For a group activity, you can print multiple copies of the feathers with various sounds or blank spaces.
Activity Instructions:
Step 1: Choose a target sound (e.g., /t/) and have students practice saying words like “turkey” and “table.”
Step 2: As students say each word correctly, they can either color in a feather with the target sound or glue a pre-made feather onto the turkey.
Step 3: Repeat this process for different sounds, helping students to build a “Turkey Talk” with their practiced words.
Extensions:
You could create a simpler task for younger students with just a few feathers.
Use the blank feathers to personalize for different levels of speech needs (e.g., students who need to practice multisyllabic words or sentences).
Engagement Tips:
Make it interactive! Have kids “earn” each feather by correctly saying the word or sentence.
Use this activity to enhance articulation practice, vocabulary building, and gratitude discussions. It’s also great for creating a colorful bulletin board display—have students assemble their turkeys and write what they’re thankful for on the feathers!

Feelings and Emotions Social Scenarios

This product includes 14 social stories that focus on feeling stressed, upset, excited, nervous, sad, shy, and jealous. Students will be required to put their feet in the shoes of each character in each social story. This product can be printed and laminated and the feelings cards can be cut out and Velcro can be applied to the back of them so they can be placed on each social story. Students can use pencil (if not laminated) and dry erase marker to write how the character felt. After the student has written their answer, there can be a discussion with the student about what they would do if they were the character in each situation.

Temporal Concepts Sequencing Lesson COMPREHENSION

** Are you looking for a resource to teach students to understand temporal concepts or are you Teaching sequence of events, Following directions or Sentence writing? These syntax activities will teach your students how to understand 25, higher level temporal concepts (prior to, simultaneous, thereafter). It is a simple drill in which students are provided with a small scenario containing the word and asked to determine the meaning of the concept.**
You will receive a 26 Slide Lesson which contains the lesson and one Assessment worksheet to print.
The Lesson works well with older students (Grades 6- 10) or with students who have mild cognitive delays yet good language skills. An independent lesson will take about 30 minutes however if you are using it as a teaching tool during instruction the lesson can easily fill 60 minutes with breaks in between for group discussion. When I use this lesson with my Speech classroom it takes two 30 minute sessions and 60 minutes total.
