Colorful Semantics is a structured language intervention designed to support the development of language and communication skills, particularly in children with speech and language difficulties. This resource includes boards with pictures on and spaces for children to build sentences using the relevant 'who', 'what', 'where', 'what doing' cards.

Why do you need this?

Colorful Semantics uses color coded cards to help children to learn the important elements of a sentence and how to join them together in the correct order. By visually representing each part of the sentence with a specific color, learners can better understand the structure and meaning of sentences, as well as the relationships between words.

How and when might you use this?

This approach is often implemented through a variety of interactive and hands-on activities, such as sentence building games, storytelling, and picture-based exercises. This articulation resource was created in order to help Speech Language Pathologists target initial /s/, final /s/, and medial /s/ at the word, sentence, and conversational level. This will encourage generalization and carryover of sounds in speech for the phonological process of stopping and for frontal lisps and lateral lisps. We know that "s" can be a very difficult sound, so let's make it fun to practice. Research shows that children learn much quicker while engaged in play. This is the perfect game to help our students produce their sounds more quickly.

This is a great resource to use when children are stuck at the word level of a sound. Students will be very motivated to produce their sounds in these silly sentences.

Included in this resource:

• 12 initial /s/ task card question prompts with the following words: scissors, soap, soup, seahorse, seal, safe, sock, submarine, sandwich, sun, saw
• 12 final /s/ task card question prompts with the following words: house, floss, glass, space, bus, horse, ice, cactus, dice, dress, fence
