⭐Build all the task cards in one sitting. This typically takes 1 – 2 hours to complete the set.

⭐Have the task cards available alongside STEM and STEAM bins, makerspaces, centers, tubs, busy boxes, morning baskets, or available for early finishers to complete using any available materials. Students can even draw their creations instead of building them!

⭐Complete one challenge a day in conjunction with the different ASK, BRAINSTORM, PLAN, CREATE, TEST, and REFLECTION prompts. These can be used as class/partner discussion, or as a writing or journal prompt.

⭐Use them for public speaking practice. Allow students to build as many cards as predetermined, followed by show and tell with the class, or their families. Use the Discussion Questions to help guide this portion. Students can practice speaking and listening skills, using loud and clear voices, and giving full attention to the speaker. Encourage students to ask questions to their classmates.

How do I set up the activity?

Just print and play! Everything you need is included in your download. You don’t need locks (you can prepare one or even use my digital lock included in this kit if you wish to), envelopes, or special equipment. You can hang or hide the puzzles or just spread them out on the kitchen table.

Do I have to print out the game materials for every kid?

Nope! You ONLY have to print out the answer sheet for each kid or group. Just one set of the actual puzzles is all you need! If you choose to use the digital version to save paper and ink, then you will only need to print the QR codes for the Mission (get the kids to scan and read this first), Hint Cards and Puzzle Tasks 1-9.

Do I have to print out the Mystery Door for the game?

Nope! I suggest that you show the picture of the door + QR code on your phone or laptop for pupils to scan and enter their 4-digit secret code. You can also use an actual lock where the kids can actually enter the 4-digit secret codes to complete the game.

This creative Watercolor Boat Scene was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I asked students to brainstorm a boat/vessel that they wanted to have in the water, and water kind of body of water they wanted in their artwork. We discussed Winslow Homer, and his style of art. Students sketched their drawing and painted the larger areas first. Students painted the boat, smaller details and reflections last. This product includes 1 social story that focuses on bullying. Students will also learn the meanings of the following words: bullying, vulnerable, feeling left out, and empathy.

In this product that relates with bullying, students learn what makes a bully a bully, how you can stop bullying if it happens, when being bullied what can be done to handle a situation, and what to do when bullied. Students will then be required to reflect on a time when they were bullied.

The social story includes comprehension questions throughout. Some of the questions require students to put their feet in the shoes of the characters. At the end of this product, there are 4 role-playing scenario cards that will require students to discuss bullying, how students would feel in a given situation that relates with bullying, and what students can do when they are bullied or when someone else is bullied.
