FRENCH PHONEMES ACTIVITY-SOR- CV Blending-Conscience Phonémique- Phonics
By La trousse de Madame
The French Phonics Mats are ideal for the K-2 French learner who is just starting to blend sounds in French. Use the NO PREP individual mat cards for centres, additional one-on-one resources for small group instruction, or for students with an IEP who engaged in strategies from the Science of Reading. Ideal for task bins as they can be interchanged daily or weekly depending on your student programming.
What to do:
1. Copy and laminate the sheets. Cut out individual task cards on the left and then Velcro mini dot Velcro to the back of each consonant card. Add a Velcro to the Phonics Mat.
Put the mats at a centre with a whiteboard marker and an eraser (I use socks from the Dollar Store…much cheaper and they last forever!)
2. You can also use this resource by simply laminating each sheet and using a whiteboard marker to make CV sound blends.
Science of Reading:
These cards are aligned with sounds being taught in any Science of Reading aligned curriculum. They are set up for student success based on the research for increasing reading fluency and building student confidence in the classroom!
Once you have established the strategies for identifying sounds, initial sounds, and blending sounds, segmenting sounds, students will be able to use these self-driven Phonics Mats on their own. What a great way to build learning autonomy!
Who can use this resource:
Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple French Phonics Mats to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.
Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in reading and confidence in reading strategies.
Phonics Mats are designed to build a number of common French sounds and get more challenging as they go on.
What grade level:
I personally use these mats with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the phonics mats with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills and those with an IEP.
Phonics mats are ideal for a fun centre for Senior Kindergarten and the students will be thrilled to see them used once they graduate to Grade 1.

Core French Beginner Children's Stories Videos and Worksheets | Francais
By Jennifer
2 French Children's Story Videos (Petit Poulet and L'Oiseau et la baleine) from The French Experiment are linked.
For your beginner Core French class, I recommend having students watch one of the videos in French first with no subtitles. Have them try to answer as many questions as possible from the accompanying worksheet. You might want to play the video at .75x speed if you teach elementary students.
Next, play the video once more, this time with subtitles. Students will be able to fill in the blanks they missed the first time around.
The last question for each of the stories allow students to think critically about the lesson each story teaches.
The worksheets are in English. The videos are in French.
I found this allows students to think about what they are watching more carefully, learning more French words along the way.
An answer key is not included, but the questions are very simple and you will be able to answer them easily after watching the video. I wrote the answers while watching the videos along with the students.
The French Experiment offers these two French videos for free. The rest are on a paid version. You can check it out below.

FRENCH NUMBER LINE- Droite Numérique- Bright Colours- FRENCH DECOR-BTS
By La trousse de Madame
French Number Lines are not always easy to find to fit the tone and feeling of your classroom! I have developed this number line with simple font and easy to read numbers and words so that your students can get started on reading their numbers together. This bright coloured French Number Line will look great in your classroom whether you are just starting out or if you need a fresh new look part-way through the year!
What to expect:
-Numerical bubble with one number in each circle
-numbers 1 to 100 (with an extra bubble with '0' in it for use if you choose)*
*Please note the font I chose does not have an 'accent aigu' so you will have to add it in your own hand.
I have added this number line to my classroom and the students started organically using it whenever a number comes up in conversation. We have a clear gateway to practice from any number and we count forward and backward depending on the whim of the day. Students love to be the one to choose our number of the day and we get counting!

CORE FRENCH | FSL | LOST PET | ANIMAL PERDU | GAME-BASED | 90 PAGES | PROJECT
By French Made Fun!
This newly updated *94 page* unit will cover you for roughly 7-9 Core French 1-hour classes and features a teachable slide deck, worksheets, lesson plans, rubrics, success criteria, a word wall, a phrase wall and numerous suggestions to get your kids having fun, moving, interacting and legitimately enjoying French class with you. The entirety (or parts of) the unit can easily be left with a substitute teacher and you need a quick lesson plan. It's ALL here!
As with all of my Core French products, this one is geared toward a LOW-LEVEL middle-school classroom (grades 3-7). It's high-energy, interactive, highly engaging and requires no prep. It ties in to some science concepts for grades 5 & 6 on biodiversity and adaptations. It features a significant amount of game-based learning and some project-based learning
There are three longer projects included with this unit: "Mon drôle d'animal" which has them building a silly animal and describing its body parts and details; "Mon animal perdu," a poster project which has them creating a poster for their missing pet, and "Une interview à la radio" which has them writing a radio script to find their lost pet with a partner.
Included in this bundle:
Warm-Ups: A collection of 11 worksheets, suggested lessons and activities, and games to support very low-level students who do not yet have basic vocabulary for colors, animals, etc., to get them up to snuff before jumping into the unit.
"Les couleurs" - A personal picture dictionary for students to use throughout the unit.
"Ma maison" - 3 differentiated, independent activities for your students to draw and describe their house.
"Les animaux de la jungle" - An independent colour and vocabulary activity.
"Méli-Mélo" - A simple word scramble activity.
"Apprenons les noms des animaux" - 3 pages for students to practice coloring and writing vocabulary.
Lesson Plans: 6 days of explicit lesson plans included. Everything from your prompts, needed material, explanation of tasks, extension opportunities, differentiation ideas, classroom management tips and tricks are included for each day. Each day students have activities, games, worksheets, and projects to work on independently, in partners and in groups.
Slide Deck: 38 pages of highly engaging, game-based learning, that's interactive for you to click and go. In your Slide Deck, you'll find:
"Quel est ton animal de compagnie préféré?" - A listening and speaking activity on showing preferences. Your lesson plan has suggestions for kinesthetic games and a student survey.
"Tapette à mouches" - A 4-Slide group activity for students to find the vocabulary on the board in two large groups. Your lesson plan has suggestions for having your students lead this game.
"Quelle couleur sont les animaux?" - A 10-Slide activity to practice les couleurs in partners. Your lesson plan has suggestions for a kinesthetic game for this activity.
"Bones?! Où es-tu?!" - An engaging, interactive 8-Slide game that will have your students guessing the location of a hidden dog I've hidden behind objects on the slides. Your lesson plan has suggestions for having your students lead this game.
"Qui suis-je?" - Two animal riddles as models for a riddle-creating activity outlined in your lesson plan. Students see, hear and use descriptive language.
"Le projet final" - Your final project build-up has two slides which I use as messages du jour to explain their poster project, and two slides which highlight the expectations.
"Headbandz" - A final fun group game for your students to use descriptive language, with vocabulary prompts, to explain an animal.
Worksheets, Games and Activities: 25 pages of engaging, straightforward worksheets, activities, games, printables, cut-outs, flashcards etc., that match up with your lesson plans.
Color name cut-outs for a kinesthetic game.
"Que préfères-tu?" - a speaking and listening activity on preferences.

"Plumes, Écailles, Fourrure, Coquille" - Cards to print and cut for an art activity on body coverings.
"Où vivent-ils?" - An independent creative worksheet on animal habitats.
"Adaptations" - An independent worksheet for students to colour, trace & write animal vocabulary.
"Les revêtements corporels" - a cut-and-paste sorting activity to understand 4 body coverings.
"Caractéristiques animales" - a cut-and-paste activity to label animals and their body parts.
"Rapport sur mon animal" - an independent 2-page fill-in-the-blank infographic on a researched animal.
"Animal Cards" - 48 Print, cut and laminate cards for your students to play a number of suggested and explained games including Pictionary, Charades, Memory and Go Fish!

"Mur de phrases" - 12 Questions and answers to typical phrases seen in this unit, en Français with English translations. 2 student copies "Comment répondre?" are given with the questions and prompts to answer them. One copy has modelled examples.
Final Project: Students create a poster on their missing animal with specific guidelines to follow. This is the bulk of formal assessment for this unit.
"Ah non! Mon animal est perdu!" - Students are provided with an explanation of the final project task with a checklist as their "success criteria."
"Mon collier d'animal" - Two differentiated versions of this activity that will have students designing their pet's collar for their final project.
"Une interview à la radio" - A partner skit-writing activity where they'll take turns pretending to be the "animateur" and the "invité" and either record their radio interview, present it to the class, present it to you, or use other means like FlipGrid (if your board allows it) to show you their learnings.
"Mon animal perdu" - A formal rubric which focuses on their ability to meet the checklist criteria, to be creative, or to be effective communicators in the radio interview.

Journée du Chandail Rose Colouring-Pink Shirt Day Activity-FRENCH Resource
By La trousse de Madame
French Pink Shirt Day FREEBIE
This quick and easy resource is for use near the end of the month of February to recognize Pink Shirt Day. The story behind this day is one that has a positive influence on students as they understand that it is not OK to bully EVER.
I hope you are able to use this resource in your class by quickly making copies and allowing students to use their creativity and unique perspectives to colour and decorate how they see fit.
Personally, I made copies onto pink printer paper in poster size 200% to make two big posters with the title 'Jour du chandail rose' and students have placed their Tshirts around the poster. Older students will also make theirs with a writing piece to explain their views on Pink Shirt Day in French.
Merci:
Thank you for visiting my TeachShare store and for downloading this FREEBIE
How to use this resource:
1. Copy a set for students. I like to copy multiple sets (ie. 3 sets of 8 to insure that students sitting with one another do not have the same page next to them. I find this allows for more creative development as they do not copy their neighbour).
2. Let students colour and create and cut the shape of the Tshirt out
3. Display on a bulletin board or on the wall of your school
JE VOUS SOUHAITE UNE BONNE JOURNEE DU CHANDAIL ROSE
Who can use this resource:
Teachers who are looking for French resources who want quick and easy NO PREP materials that their students will love. A fresh new look on a great idea and the best part is you just have to click 'print'.
Students love the clear lettering and can get creative using all the various pink writing materials in the class. I gave my students free reign of anything pink and they came up with their own unique designs.
Students are proud to be a part of a bigger project that they can all display with pride.
What grade level:
I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.

French SPRING Writing Prompts-Morning Work-Science of Reading-Le Printemps
By La trousse de Madame
Writing prompts are the fast and easy No-Prep way of adding to your K-2 writing program. Aligned with the Science of Reading, students engage decoding and encoding skills. The vocabulary used in this resource follows a progression recommended by many school boards and is in lock step with what is being promoted by IDAPEL and ONLit websites for teaching French language in today's classrooms.
Once you have a grasp on all the simple sounds in French, the magic happens when you get students writing. They don't even notice that all the words used are from their very own memory banks and are all decodable words from past lessons.
Who can use this resource:
Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple texts to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.
Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in writing and confidence in writing strategies.
The prompts are designed to offer many variations for students to use their imaginations and to build confidence in their own writing.
Correction sheet is handy for use with a substitute as they can confidently assess students and command the lesson even when they are not assured of their French skills.
What grade level:
I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French writing skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.
Science of Reading:
These prompts are aligned with sounds being taught in any Science of Reading aligned curriculum. They are set up for student success based on the research for increasing writing proficiency and building student confidence in the classroom!
Once you have established the strategies for identifying sounds, initial sounds, and blending sounds, segmenting sounds, students will be able to use these self-driven passages on their own. What a great way to build learning autonomy!
