Firstly, there are twelve reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about:

These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.

Then, there are four biography writing units about Leonardo da Vinci, Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and Frida Kahlo. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Each of the week-long vocabulary themes in this program includes seven activities / exercises for Monday through Friday. Provide each student with a lectures de la semaine folder and have them add to it every day as you provide daily assignments. You can easily combine themed reading, vocabulary, and writing activities in the same weekly folder if you choose to implement my complete reading and writing programs. At the end of the week have students turn in their folders. On Monday, you can start over again with a new theme.

✍Lundi: VOCABULAIRE - List of 12 words and expressions; J'écris mes douze mots de la semaine

✍Lundi: LIRE - Read paragraph #1 and answer three comprehension questions

✍Lundi: ÉCRIRE -  Je dessine - Give students a drawing page with a writing prompt at the top. This will have them beginning to think about the writing theme for the week and is their first pre-writing assignment. Kids love drawing, and the pictures they draw will later serve as inspiration!

✍Mardi: VOCABULAIRE - Je recopie mes douze mots de la semaine 3 fois; Je mets mes douze mots de la semaine dans l'ordre alphabétique

✍Mardi: LIRE - Read paragraph #2 and answer three comprehension questions

✍Mardi: ÉCRIRE - Mon livret de vocabulaire - Each student receives a booklet to help them explore the vocabulary related to the week’s writing theme. The front page includes the writing prompt of the week and an image. The second page includes over 80 frequently used French words. Page three lists 12 words that go along with the theme of the week, and the back page has space for ten words that students have either thought of on their own or looked up in the dictionary. The booklet is a simple one page printable that you can either fold in advance or have students do it on their own. Kids write their name on the front cover and you could have them colour it.
