2 "mini" labs that will help students observe and make connections to compounds and mixtures. The first introduces students to the concept of mixtures. The second shows the concept that not all liquids act alike so conclusions can be drawn about how materials interact when put together.

These short activities reinforce or introduce concepts to students. I call these activities “mini labs” because they are simple activities that do not take the whole class period. They are also activities that are safe for use in the classroom and do not have to be done in a lab or with any specialty equipment or materials. I often use these demonstrations to lead into new content, that way as we cover material I can refer back to the things that my students have experienced first hand.

Coaching Science Olympiad is one of the most exhausting but rewarding academic extracurricular activities. You will see students grow and learn so much and see their love of science and STEM expand! This guide is for new coaches, either those starting their own Science Olympiad program or for those taking over existing programs. I was a Science Olympiad coach for 6 years and am sharing how I was able to stay organized and help students try their best and succeed!

This newly updated *94 page* unit will cover you for roughly 7-9 Core French 1-hour classes and features a teachable slide deck, worksheets, lesson plans, rubrics, success criteria, a word wall, a phrase wall and numerous suggestions to get your kids having fun, moving, interacting and legitimately enjoying French class with you. Music is inspiring and is a great way to help students find interest in the topic being studied and grasp the information. I use it often! This lesson implements June Carter Cash's and Johnny Cash's song, Ring of Fire, as part of the introduction. In addition, the lesson discusses not only the plates but also the boundaries and how they move creating new landforms. Students will, in addition, track and plot earthquakes and volcanoes.

OBJECTIVE:

o The learner will identify the Ring of Fire’s geographical location and will identify it as a region.

o The learner will describe the events that occur along the Ring of Fire—earthquakes and volcanic activity.

o The learner will plot recent earthquakes and volcanoes in the Pacific Ocean on a map to discover the relationship between these events and the plate boundaries.

o The learner will determine the types of boundaries that lie within the Ring of Fire

MATERIAL NEEDED:
o Copies of Ring of Fire lyrics, Johnny Cash version, written by June Carter Cash (Included)

o Technology to play the song as learners follow along with the lyrics. (Find the song on Youtube or Spotify)

o Demonstrations: Graham crackers, peanut butter, a plate, and something with which to spread the peanut butter (or substitute icing or anything creamy) (5) bowl of water (If you want you can have students take part in the demonstration, provide enough for learners to work in groups.)
