Less than $5 5th Grade French Centers

Flip Card decks are so handy for the classroom. I use them in small group work to assess and teach specific sounds, combinations of CV sounds, and to decode words together. The large format cards are great for my Grade 1 students as we can do a lot of whole class instruction and the students have so much fun coming up to the front of the class to come up with the 'really hard' CV combinations for their peers to read out loud.

Use the smaller sets for learning centres, individual work, and pair work as your students get familiar with their phonological awareness and phonemic awareness. My students happen to love 'testing' each other by flipping the cards, saying the sound, and then waiting as their 'students' write what they think is the correct letter on their whiteboards!

We love them so much as we can sneak in a little decoding and Science of Reading whenever we get a minute or two of time to fill.

Who can use this resource:

Any French educator who is wanting to practice, assess, and deepen their students understanding of sound work in French. This item is suitable for French Immersion, Core French, and French instruction at any level. Students in the Core French environment can benefit from using these sets independently for writing assignments and group activities. Immersion teachers will find these flip cards useful for any students from Grades 1 to 4 who need an extra boost to building a stronger phonological awareness and phonemic awareness. This coincides beautifully with the 'Heggerty type' approach to French Instruction being introduced in many provinces in Canada.

French Dots and Boxes Game - LA VILLE - No prep printable

An easy and fun no-prep game that will elicit a lot of exposure and pronunciation for the target vocabulary! This is a one-page dots & boxes game including directions. 120 different vocabulary words related to la ville are included. This game could be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or played on an iPad with annotation/whiteboard tools.

Objective: Complete more boxes than your component. Each player draws lines using a different color. On your turn, make a horizontal or vertical line from one dot to another. Say the words on either side of the line you drew. If you complete a box on your turn, draw an X in the box using your color. Once all of the boxes have been completed, count to see who got the most.

Fun and engaging Back to School reading posters to foster a positive attitude in the French Immersion or Core French classroom to the world of reading.

I use these posters in my book nook in my classroom so students can explore the world of imagination contained in books.

Writing prompts are the fast and easy No-Prep way of adding to your K-2 writing program. Aligned with the Science of Reading, students engage decoding and encoding skills. The vocabulary used in this resource follows a progression recommended by many school boards and is in lock step with what is being promoted by IDAPEL and ONLit websites for teaching French language in today's classrooms.

Once you have a grasp on all the simple sounds in French, the magic happens when you get students writing. They don't even notice that all the words used are from their very own memory banks and are all decodable words from past lessons.

Who can use this resource:

Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple texts to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.

Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in writing and confidence in writing strategies.

The prompts are designed to offer many variations for students to use their imaginations and to build confidence in their own writing.

Correction sheet is handy for use with a substitute as they can confidently assess students and command the lesson even when they are not assured of their French skills.

French Dots and Boxes Game - SAVOIR + INFINITIVE - No prep printable

An easy and fun no-prep game that will elicit a lot of exposure and pronunciation for the target vocabulary and grammar when teaching savoir + infinitive! This is a one-page dots & boxes game including directions. This game could be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or played on an iPad with annotation/whiteboard tools. The following construction is used: SAIS TU....?

60 different infinitives are used in this game.

Objective: Complete more boxes than your component. Each player draws lines using a different color. On your turn, make a horizontal or vertical line from one dot to another. Say the words on either side of the line you drew. If you complete a box on your turn, draw an X in the box using your color. Once all of the boxes have been completed, count to see who got the most. French Number Lines are not always easy to find to fit the tone and feeling of your classroom! I have developed this number line with simple font and easy to read numbers and words so that your students can get started on reading their numbers together. This bright coloured French Number Line will look great in your classroom whether you are just starting out or if you need a fresh new look part-way through the year!

What to expect:

-Numerical bubble with one number in each circle

-numbers 1 to 100 (with an extra bubble with '0' in it for use if you choose)*

*Please note the font I chose does not have an 'accent aigu' so you will have to add it in your own hand.

I have added this number line to my classroom and the students started organically using it whenever a number comes up in conversation. We have a clear gateway to practice from any number and we count forward and backward depending on the whim of the day. Students love to be the one to choose our number of the day and we get counting!

Ce jeu de 52 cartes flash sur les formes et l'espace est conçu pour améliorer la compréhension des concepts géométriques de vos élèves en présentant des problèmes écrits sans nombres, les défiant à associer le langage aux opérations géométriques et aux formules de manière amusante et engageante.

Vos élèves ont-ils du mal avec les problèmes écrits (problèmes écrits) pour identifier quelle opération géométrique utiliser ? J'ai créé cette collection de cartes flash spécifiquement pour aider les élèves à se concentrer sur la reconnaissance des formes et de l'espace ainsi que sur le vocabulaire associé. Comme ces cartes flash mettent l'accent sur le vocabulaire plutôt que sur les valeurs numériques, elles sont idéales pour les élèves de la 4e année et plus, en particulier ceux qui ont du mal à distinguer les différentes opérations géométriques.

Il s'agit d'une révision thématique amusante pour passer en revue les décimales avec vos élèves. Cela fonctionne très bien comme brise-glace au début de l'année (pour la 5e/6e!) et fonctionne très bien à la fin de l'année (pour la 4e!) ou comme atelier ou centre amusant pour les 4e, 5e ou 6e. Ce document contient 9 pages:

• 5 pages de 'circulaires' réalistes mais fictifs!
• 6 listes de courses différentes.
• Une copie reproductible/vierge pour créer une liste de course.

Cette "Math Boutique" est la 2e de la collection! Elle permet à vos élèves d'additionner et de multiplier des nombres décimaux avec un nombre entier. J'ai créé des circulaires réalistes mais fictifs qui présentent des produits alimentaires ainsi que des pages thématiques. J'ai également inclus plusieurs listes de courses réalistes mais fictives que vos élèves peuvent utiliser pour cette activité.

J'utilise cette activité à diverses fins. Voici quelques possibilités :

• Demandez à vos élèves de travailler seuls ou à deux pour calculer le total de leur facture d'épicerie ;
• Demandez à vos élèves de comparer les totaux avec les autres ou de se classer du plus petit au plus grand ;
• Demandez à vos élèves d'arrondir les totaux à la hausse ou à la baisse en fonction de la valeur de position sur laquelle vous travaillez ;
• Demandez à vos élèves d'estimer avant d'ajouter leurs éléments ensemble ;
• Faites comparer ces circulaires à vos élèves avec de vrais circulaires en ligne ou sous forme de papier pour trouver le meilleur prix possible ;
• Demandez à vos élèves d'essayer de dresser une liste d'épicerie qui totalise le même (ou aussi près que possible) en utilisant d'autres articles.

42 playing cards to print on heavy paper or cardstock

This card game is an excellent way to practice and memorize verb conjugations, and it will have your students speaking to each other in French the whole time! In the deck of 42 cards there are 7 families of 6 cards (je - tu - il - nous - vous - ils).

One player distributes five cards to each player (2 to 4 per group). The rest of the cards are placed in the "pioche". One player begins the game by asking another player to give him a card. He might say, "Dans la famille AVOIR, est-ce que tu as J'AI?"

His goal is to come up with a complete family. If the player doesn't have it, he says "pioche". If he draws the card that he asked for, he can continue to play and ask someone for another card. Each time a player comes up with all six members of a family, he can make a stack. At the end of the game, the player with the most sets of families wins!
